Hey Guys,

I did this design of a Pharmacy station in a spaceship... Was heavily inspired by the alien franchise, so I tried getting that 70s/80s Technology style from the old movies...

The biggest problem was to find the right values and I'm pretty sure the values are off at some parts or simply don't fit, but I don't know how to make it better...

Any help or suggestion form you guys would be awesome!

Nice concept! Something you don't see often, painting of a pharmacy on a space ship.
Maybe you could do more with the lighting? Make the dark spaces darker and where the lamps are lighter? It'll help give the piece a vocal point too. What's the vocal point in this piece?

Thank you!
Yup, thats a good point. I didn't really think about the lighting... The scene is supposed to be left alone by people becuse of something terrible that happened on the spaceship. Which was supposed to give the scene a horror/mysterious atmosphere. So I think the light could be more dramatic^^

Oh definitely play with lighting then! Even if it is abandoned, there needs to be a vocal point. Right now it's really hard to say what the story behind this scene is.
Maybe a good idea to add some (medical)trinkets to add to that dramatic abandoned effect. Like a stethoscope hanging over the chair, an IV stand with needles on the floor, etc.
Sometimes you need to push it a little to get your story across.

Alright, thank you very much for the input! ;D
I wonder if I should block out a basic setting like that in 3D and then play with lighting to help myself with that, but I'm not sure if that would be "cheating" too much? :s I mean I want to learn as much as possible from that design. :s

Don't worry about "cheating" too much. Just try it out.

Okay, so here's a quick 2 minute paint over. Please don't mind the random light sources. (and it got a bit too dark but I exaggarated here.
This is to show you what I mean. ^^ The contrast is stronger and the viewer knows where to look at a bit better.
Although I recommend you work on your focal point. (:
I've created two versions with different focal points but the lights on the left still catch the eye a lot. To create a better focal point, create something that stands out more in the area you want. I hope this makes sense.
I'm sorry for not putting more time into the paint over. >_<

Nice, thank you for the overpainting
I definitely see now, what you mean, values could be used much smarter this way :smiley
Actually the focal point was meant to be the counter at the end. But probably doesn't come off as that... Anyway, thanks I'm gonna put some more work into this one

Oh! Could be really interesting with the counter in the back.
