I think you‘re right with concentrating on the things that will bring you closer to your goal I also skipped the 4/5-point perspective and zBrush classes, so I cant tell you if you would miss something major with regards to your current goal. I have seen 2d artists use 3d programs to e.g. do more complex environment pieces and it seems to be quite a useful skill to have. But I also think that you can always come back to it in case you might need it

Hi guys! Today I did some more portrait study this time I took Carols advice and I Drew it with out overlapping it was quite hard but I think I did a decent job (nr1 was without overlapping while number 2 I overlapped in order to fix the mistakes )

Tomorrow I will shade this guy

I think if you have the opportunity and the resources, you should practice 3D. It would be interesting to see you make a 3D portraits.

I only did some simple changes just preparing for drawing tomorrow

PS: after changing the value of the background I realised that I shaded it to brightly so I will fix that tomorrow!

Hello guys!
Finally! finished this guy! I tried my very best I didn't color pick and tried my best to limit overlapping but sometimes I was lost with values ;/ I just need some more practice Let me know how I did and if there is anything else I should be doing

When I was shading I realised that my structure on nose and eyebrows was wrong so I had to fix it

ALSO I have a question regarding this video exercises since I'm planning on drawing characters in foreshortening.

Should I start doing them right now or should I wait until I'm finished with anatomy classes?

imo you could try to do foreshortening now and then see if you can handle it without fully learning anatomy and if it's too hard at the current moment try again once you have a better grasp/understanding of anatomy as a whole

Really good job on that portrait, Sebastian! Well done!
Regarding your question about the foreshortening exercises: You can definetly try it out, especially the first levels are not so much anatomy focused as they are focused on basic forms in perspective and thats always a good thing to practise!

Hello, thank you all for your opinions!

Today I decided that I will do some foreshortening studies

(I didn't draw the perspective lines on nr 2 I only extended the lines to see if its somewhat correct)
(Also I added atmospheric perspective to nr 3)

Later today I will do some portrait line art

Hey, good work on the shapes and forms. You may need to erase the shapes as they overlap. And I like the idea of shaping the hair before the shading.

Hello guys!
Just to let you know its not like I skipped on drawing yesterday its just that my internet went out for some reason and I couldn't post anything from my pc.

But that being said I finished this shading with a hard brush (with out color picking)let me know how I did

Tomorrow I will shade it with soft brush
