Hey everyone, reading up a bit and watching some "anatomy of style" stuff over on proko to help get into the groove of drawing more figure drawing stuff, as I'm mostly into fantasy genre I guess it should help me get the motivation I need to move forward into the rest of these terms as well XD

For now a couple of doodles and a couple of portrait sketches from reference (very obvious difference haha)

BTW what software are you all using these days? I'm constantly battling myself over it, thinkin of ditching good old photoshop for krita but something about krita stops me from overtly loving it, I might end up being more of a corel painter guy now. Also grabbing my good old graphite pencils. Just sick of corpo bs and AI feeding weirdness

Nicely done, all heads look pretty cool. Still using Clip Studio over here, though I hear Krita is pretty good for illustration. It's free too, so it doesn't hurt to try.

I'm using CSP

Switched from PS to Kirita.. but it lags for animations that are a lil fancy so i switched to CSP (would recommend perpetual license)

The Piranahs are so cue haha

I'll give CSP a second try, I've tried it once but felt it was a bit weird to get used to XD

As for the portrait, at least some of my own observations would be that I need to find a less muddy way to render the dark shadows of the hair, avoid fuzzy lines on the neck shadows, avoid leaving too much unfinished (bottom of the neck) overall work on improving value simplification for clarity and ease of work, improve my workflow and most importantly I think is to practice some more lineart, i feel my rendering really hides the fact that my lineart - especially graphite is meh XD

2024 was a tough year for reasons unrelated to art, but at least I learned a new skill and am currently still learning (music) and well, hopefully 2025 will be better and will give me the peace of mind I need to be able to focus more on art which I love. Here's hoping everyone else's 2025 is a good one

Just random doodles from imagination, and one from reference in the end. It's kinda refreshing to just doodle sometimes, tons of mistakes for sure but I feel my understanding of using basic 3D shapes is helping it not look like total garbage XD

I see your point. I guess you can shade lightly and darken over time.
Interesting doodles For the jumping woman, I think that you should foreshorten the front leg more. The last sketch does look random.
