Been a bit, I'm back home for a couple days before going on another trip in a few days so it's been hectic XD Either no time or no energy

Tried out Krita for the first time, gotta say, it's pretty nice (especially considering it's free). Tried out some gestures, doodles to practice and a head from imagination

@mitsuki-youko @Opal @gregorya Thanks for the kind remarks! And yeah, Krita is pretty cool, especially cool as it is totally free, might give it another spin once I am back from travelling

Anyhow, just wanted to post so y’all know I’m still alive XD going to leave the aliens mess hall scene a little rough as I am derailing a bit from the end goal of these studies (head construction from reference) and my secondary main objective has somehow become rendering them at this point but yeah, it was definitely a fun one to poke at, going to be watching the remaining classes from term 2 now and probably going to switch focus to more perspective and environment basics soon

These look really good! I especially like on your latest portrait with how simple the shading is on him yet it looks so good.
Maybe I am nitpicking but I see the his left cheek is not so clearly defined and his face looks a bit weird, like it has a hole.
Keep it up!

Yes I think you’re right on both observations, thanks for pointing them out! Will keep an eye out and work on it

This really shows the emotions and i like the balance of details ^.^
The faces are rich in detail, while the background stayed blurry, which looks pretty interesting 😄👍

Looks great @snakker, one thing I noticed is that the distance between the top lip and nose is too long. It looks almost equal to the distance from bottom of lip to chin. But if you look at the image his chin portion is longer than the upper lip portion. Also the proportion between eyes and bottom of nose should be shorter than the distance of bottom of nose to chin.

Man last trip I had a little spare time for art but this trip, it’s been impossible 😂 but at least I got some real life exposure to actual gothic and muslim architecture first hand. I got to see a lot of the structures and details and took plenty of pictures - no time for drawing from life unfortunately - will post as soon as I get the chance

It’s nice being back
Time to up my perspective game, these studies are just some heads from imagination to warm up and perspective studies from pictures I took on my travels, they are going to be a bit sketchy for the moment as I feel I need to do a bunch just to get a real feel for finding the vanishing points, getting the overall proportions and construction to be convincing and just a little value to give these life

If anyone has any suggestions or critique, or if anyone thinks I am going about this wrong and am wasting my time please don’t be shy XD
