Well, this study really got the better of me XD I tried just copying it, then tried changing her facial expression, changing outfit, adding a second wolf head, making her a bit more buff/savage, changing her pose by twisting a bit more and making her prepare to throw a spear.

It wasn't going anywhere tbh and got a bit frustrated to be honest, thought I may aswell post here to see what you guys think or maybe it can be salvaged somehow XD

That's what i call art, looks really pleasing to look at! Good stuff on all of these studies. On the last one i think is mostly a matter of the lines being to thick throughout and maybe her colors are a tad monochromatic if that make sense, but i totally get the frustation tho.

@Pattu_w Thanks! And yes, lines were too thick and she's mono because I just added a base color underneath before calling it quits XD

Good practices man. how terminators and values are done in general look great. Always impressive to see drawings with pure colors.

The girl on wolf has a very neat style, reminds me of the japanes watercolor brushstroke, especially on the wolf. The piece as a whole is nice, I think it's just her face that feels a bit out of place. It's hard to explain, and I wouldn't know how to say it properly, so looked up a reference and tried to illustrate it.

I just tried to match the reference but trying to match the image.

Of course if you're not feeling it, there's no problem at all in moving on. Still, as others said, it's good art and a very nice style.

@daceronine Yo thanks! I think in hindsight my mistakes were multiple. First and foremost is getting frustrated while trying to draw changes with a brush too thick, no reference for the facial expressions and without just you know, retrying XD Also, I was adding details way too early instead of modifying at a lower level of detail and going from there organically working on the piece as a whole

I will be more mindful of these things going forward. As a matter of fact today I grabbed my pencil and some paper and am working on being a bit more loose, drawing lots of figures from imagination (some with big mistakes XD) and copying or drawing things I see like crazy

Will be working on some more figure stuff on digital now

I like the picture you drew from your imagination.
I like your studies and the color study. For the wolf, I think you should put the second wolf's head in the foreground instead of the background. Maybe something like this:

These are some good figure studies. The line work and the coloring are pretty good. How did you get the coloring of the skin so accurate?

Thanks! The way i go about it for now is to make a palette first for highlight, mids, shadows and some variants, then compare to the image and modify if im very off. Being digital i cheat a bit obviously, sometimes ill paint right next to the are i want to go for and see if it matches. What i do keep in mind a lot is getting the values about right and thinking lf warmth/saturation in shadows/giving a hint of the light source in highlights and to get some sort of complementary color or contrast to the background to make it pop

Take it all with a grain of salt though, in terms of my color theory i am yet to get to that part of my journey proper. So far just going with what gurney, brunet and sinix have thought me through youtube and one or another odd video. Still havent started the color and light books nor have i gotten to color theory in the course 😅 but i just cant help paint stuff cause I find painting and rendering to je very fun and rewarding, moreso than drawing for me at least

Man, the foreshortening of this reference it's hard stuff. It's been so long since i used a pencil that i'm sure i wouldn't managed, the ctrl z is part of me now lol
