Today will be a rant day, I started to look at my last assignment before going on the last week of Term 2 and wanted to draw a human in the 8 head tall grid. Started with the face and saw that something was a bit off with the face I did. No problem, i took a screenshot from Marc's video and put it as semi transparent layer above to see the differences.
Reference from video:
My quick attempt :
1st big delta was the jaw bone, mine were too narrow, easy fix and understandable. I fixed the ears size too.
My quick fix :
better but not quite right yet for me
Then I go the the eye placement, the point that I find the most difficult in constructing a face. I put the eyebrow on the half line of the sphere then place the eyes in the space below. But when I look at my reference from Marc's, I see clearly his eyebrow below the line. I get confused and go back to anatomy 1 video, to check the guidelines.
Quite the space you got there:
I instantly got even more confused because of the initial circle. Following the top of the head it seems way to big !
Explanation in picture :
And this got me even more confused .... I know all faces are different. But to learn I want to really understand the guidelines and rules so I can learn how to break the them properly. And in the end where should the eyebrow be ? It seems the middle line of the initial circle is not the right answer.
So I didn't stopped here, when you don't know how to draw something, use references, so I did. And here is my result.

The eyebrow should be places BELOW the center line, or at most on it, but never above (like I usually do). I don't know where my "placing the eyebrow ON the line" knowledge came from but at least now I know how to fix it ! So in the end, I did not do the exercise today but I have learned a bit.
The fixed version or my quick face with the eyebrow below the line this time
