Hi there! Here's my latest “art copy” study (thoracic anatomy focused #term3). It took me about 10hrs to get to this render. Does anyone have tips to improve speed while rendering to such level of quality?

P.S.: original artwork by Ren Wei Pan

To be honest its all about just painting more. Breaking things into parts and doing short specialized studies can help as well.

I wonder how efficient it is to do an anatomy study out of a stylized image? Certainly better than no study, but I feel like a photo could give you more subtle muscle positions.

Anyway, to answer your question, do you usually paint in this style? I find that when i try to make a study of someone else's style, it takes much longer than my usual works, even if the style is seemingly much simpler.
As Malcom said, practice makes perfect :), I wouldn't beat myself up over one (or a couple) time-consuming images, as long as you learn something from them. For some people, even 10 hours on a piece like this can seem fast, depending on their skill.

Thanks for the feedback!

Sure, I've been doing real anatomy studies during these last weeks. But in this particular case I'm trying to study and experiment how other artists proceed to RENDER their anatomy-related artworks. This is pure exploration with purpose to learn anything new while enriching my anatomy knowledge's horizon

I see! Yes, that's definitely useful too
