Daang, that's a difficult pose! Seems like you picked an anatomy challenge as well. So previous art was a hearbreak, this one is a scare, going for emotional roller coaster here? :joy:
I think this will be awesome to to to research tentacle structure as well. Go for it. The only thing I'm unsure of is the left arm right now. Not understanding the position at this point.

@chiara.arcidiaco I personally think we should go for an illustration as a final piece. After all, we're practicing translucent skin, which would be difficult to emphasize on, if it is a static character sheet.

Just wondering on whether this challenge is open for everyone despite their art skill level? 0-0

For sure! Join in! If we were super skilled we wouldn't be here in the Art School. :joy: The idea of the challenge was to learn to draw translucent skin on characters and help each other. We just came up with it during a live stream chat.

So this is my rough idea for the challenge! And as you can notice my anatomy other than the torso part is still ehh.. >.< But yeah this challenge reminds of creatures from Marianas trench so yeah. Heavily inspired from an angler fish and other translucent creatures from the trench.

That's a great start Ivan! Will you be competing with Indra here for the creepiest sea creature?
2 suggestions: her midsection looks extra long and I think you forgot the trap muscle where it connects the neck to the shoulder (which makes her neck look too long); also, maybe curve the tail a little more upward, so it's not pointing the viewer to look off canvas?

Love the creepy eyes and the hairstyle!

Not sure about competing but I'm a fan of creepy stuff so I'll definitely try. ^-^ Thank you for pointing out some mistakes, really appreciate it! Though that's not really the final concept since I kind of wanted to have her in a much more dynamic pose(for learning purposes).

Hello it's me again! ^=^ I just finished my rough draft the actual piece that I'm gonna work on for the challenge. I'm currently having a hard time working on the anatomy of top of the shoulders and her breast >.<. I would really appreciate it if anyone can help me adjust it incase I did something wrong.

"What's beneath"

Yes. The pose is hard indeed. Gonna check some more reference to get it as correct as possible.
But rollercoasters are nice, aren't they? :yum:

Okay! Thank you. His left arm or the arm on the left side?

I definitely have to study some tentacles.

Really cool start! I love that you used the angler fish as a reference.

Will you use the design you showed on her arm and throat everywhere or only on some body parts? Thinking of the "Rule of Thirds" the design might be overcrowded if you apply it everywhere.

@ivancatamora15 those are super cool!! The first one inspired me so much, great reference

The second one, damn what a difficult pose hahah I never do this kind of stuff :joy: I think that the head should cover more the neck probably and keep attencion to the scapula and clavicle overall shape, I allowed myself to do this, hope that could help you

Waiting to see your progress with this character!!! and learn about his background story more

Hello! Thank for for this awesome feed back!
I'm having a hard time looking for actual reference for some of the stuff which often ended up just hard guessing it. >.< This helps a lot! Thank you again

Not really sure what the "Rule of thirds" is since since I'm still in term 3, or maybe I miss it? o-0 But I'm planning to have different stuff for her chest, lower abdomen area, and face.

I think I will deviate from the deep sea theme here and go with the crystals
Rough sketch for positions and overall composition of my crystal weredragon (don't make him angry)

I have to admit, that I'm somewhat stealing from another artist. This art has been my inspiration for many years and I always wanted to do my own spin on the idea. Let me know your thoughts/ideas/critiques.

I think we're doing good progress guys!

Hello guys! Here's my progress so far on the challenge. As you can see I take lil bit of a twist regarding her "Tail" in which instead of it just glows, it now also take shape depending on her prey. I also tried fixing the said problem earlier so I would love to get some feedback regarding the anatomy on her shoulders.

"Greed make mans blind and foolish, and make him easy prey for death."

Not sure whether this will help or not but personally I think breaking symmetry by adding some crystals throughout his body will sort of balance the piece, especially together with the crystal dragon. o-o This could probably help you point the eye of the viewer to the character first before the dragon.

For sure there will be some on the guy, I just haven't decided in which places yet

As for your girl, I think I liked her first version of the face better. Sorry

No need to be sorry at all! I just figured that her having human face under deep waters don't quite fit well so I decided to step away from it. ^=^

Added some basic colour and shadows!

Oh hello there. :smirk: Oh wait...Marc said that I shouldn't flirt with others characters! :scream:

Crystal theme! Love it. Can't wait what you'll do with these guys. Will the dragon be translucent, too?

I have to work kinda the whole day today. But I'm gonna do some studies in the evening and try to work on my challenge a bit, too. And I still need to prepare something for the LiveStream as well.
