Unable to change username, keep on getting “Error while validation” error message

I am trying to change my username from "connieslee8" to "johnschiefer25", but I am unable to do so. Whenever I press the save button I get a red message at the top of the page saying "Error while validation", and I have no idea what that means. I have changed my email after I created my account, and I've verified my email.
