My favourite youtubers are:
- Sinix (anatomy, rendering, design theory, shape language)
- Marco Bucci (composition, fundamentals, but especially color theory (!!!))
- ModernDayJames (draftsmanship, perspective, constructions)
- Ethan Becker (charisma, cutting out the bullshit, improving your art)
- Proko (all-around, but especially anatomy drawing)

I tend to stick to these for the most part, as well as watching some commented time-lapses of pros doing their drawings.

If you look up that top 5 and explore their free resources, you have a complete art education at your fingertips!

Thank you so much for those! Saving them for my To Watch list. I have been having a really hard time adopting Marc's rendering technique and feeling like I need to try other methods to see what clicks best.

So this is a little thing I paint on when I have 20 minutes of free time here and there.

It's far from perfect and some areas are very overworked but it's becoming more human-looking as I play with it. Proportions are kind of exaggerated, like a shitty version of Ilya Kuvshinov's work.

I do exactly the same with @Vonschlippe and many others on here. It's really nice to look at where other people are and how they tackle the same things. Some of my 'sparks of enlightenment' have come from looking at other people's topics.

Hey everyone - once again I apologize for not putting up as much artwork as I used to. Work, gym, and sleep are taking up all my free time.

I finished the previous portrait to a satisfactory degree. This one is special to me because I did not have a direct single photo reference - it's a combined mix of 5-6 references for the lighting and anatomy, sometimes in different poses altogether, remixed into one single drawing.

Pretty satisfied with it - time to move on to another bite sized project I can tackle.

Hey all, just posting some work in progress

Things I'm going for this time:
1 - a stylized look and proportions like in my previous bust
2 - long hair, which I find tedious to paint but I can't keep avoiding it. It's just more ribbons right? Ima try to keep it simple and not go for a detailed render, while focusing on strong shapes
3 - Trying to get some emotions coming through, I want her to look a bit forlorn and emotionally distant to contrast with the vulnerability and doe eyes of the previous one.
4 - I want to keep exploring the power of greyish colors in my rendering. Grey is bae, and it's pretty much my new superpower. See this video here for more on that subject.

Just some progression spam

I'm learning so much stuff on these pieces and gaining huge confidence in my rendering process. Faces are a real benchmark for your accuracy, but I'm working from a few sweet references that allow me to go at it pretty quickly. This whole section was done over the course of the last 2-3 hours, which is not too bad, I definitely feel like I won't have to redo it over and over.

I think my usage of grey also makes adding tiny touches of saturated color that much more satisfying.

Are you going to polish it more or this is the final result? I can't imagine how it could be better than this but it's always better to ask

I definitely intend to keep polishing and finishing her hair, along with finishing touches. It's mostly complete in terms of shape/gesture, it's just rendering now!
