Painting "Fungus" Original Artwork 2018. I rarely paint things that truly represent an experience, so this is one of the rare occasions that I did.
Before reading why I created this piece, please tell me what does this image make YOU feel? What does it represent in YOUR eyes?
I am really curious to know, so please feel free to give some feedback on that the anatomy is stylized and not supposed to be accurate btw ^-^ in case someone was wondering.
This image represents chronic sinusitis and how the pain feels. I've been struggling with this sickness from when I was 10 years old. Polyps have been removed surgically from my nasal cavities in the forehead 3 TIMES over the course of my lifetime, though I've suffered from the pain many more times. My body is a mess because of taking so many antibiotics to combat this sickness, I get sick very fast and it takes ages to go away without taking antibiotics again. It's a mess. My forehead gets swollen, I can basically feel stuff moving underneath my bones and at night I believed to hear it grow. The pain is unbearable. The only thing I could do is sleep because I wasn't even able to open my eyes. I wasn't able to breath. Despite the sugeries it would always come back. Since my last surgery (2017) I haven't had the sickness again, but I am afraid that it might come back. The worst part were the doctors that didn't take my pain seriously and my school officials who made me go to school despite the unbearable pain. I would go pumped full of painkillers, that I would take just a quarter of an hour before getting up to even be able to get up. Especially officials from my school had little understanding for me not being able to come to school ... because I would go sick for at least a month, so I forced myself, or more their nagging forced me. But because I wasn't there a lot, I got bad grades from my teachers anyways.
If you read all of this mess, please tell me if the image really captures what I felt. I mean, I think I did capture it pretty well (I actually wanna make a series), but I'd love to get to know more opinions!
