Hi guys.

First time poster here. Was introduced to this competition from a friend. I'll be choosing Sci-Fi genre. I will be building upon an older superior civilizations ruins with more primitive basic structures from a "scavenging" type civilization.

Inspiration includes:

The Matrix (Movie)
Elysium (Movie)
Oblivion (Movie)
Kowloon Ciy (Real-Time Location)
District 9 (Movie)
Battle: Los Angeles (Movie)
Fallout Series (Video Game)

Made an intial moodboard to get a feel of where I might want to go. Definitely want to create a "neighbourhood" consisting of a large Skyscraper or multiple multi storey complexes. Shanty towns, favelas etc will be a main source of inspiration for the architecture.

I'd like to have a lot of exposed pre-civ era architecture as well. A lot of "sci-fi" structures still managing to stand. How I will be incorporating that will be decided at a later point.

Love the idea of shanty towns mixed with sci if. I look forward to seeing it develop.

Haha Kowloon is a fascinating place in my opinion, not like I want to live there... But it will be great to see a scene based on that kind of (anti-)architecture !

Thanks guys! literally as soon as I posted this my keyboard finally gave up on me. Thank god my term was over for 6 weeks. Finally got a new one so looking to get back into the swing of things.

Been looking at a lot of "architecture" at the moment. Something like the skyscrapers from "Dredd". Trying to find a way to make both blend but I think i'll want to just make the old civ first and then try to shimmy in the lesser new civ after so that there is a stark and almost unbelievable contrast.
