Don't really have anything to post just yet, I'm just super excited to be taking part!

SO I've finally got time to work on this, with just over a month to go, let's do this.

My world takes place on this one, a fruitless Earth destroyed by reckless advancements on technologies we couldn't even imagine possible in this day and age. Technologies created with the intent to help us, which ended up hindering us. The most valuable asset, the spacepod, is distributed across the whole planet to take several hundreds of humans at a time to their new homeplanet. Not Mars, they already overpopulated that one.
They took nothing with them in the hopes of starting anew, homes are left to become barren, overgrown ruins as Mother Nature attempts to reclaim the little bit of life she has left.

Amongst the many things the humans left behind, was a key to the hopeful future of a dying race. All newborns, toddlers and infants were left to fend for themselves using the advanced technologies developed (and left in development) prior to the Mass-Planetary-Migration.
Besides that, they were left with something that the older humans lost many, many, many years before; the ability to love freely, willingly and intuitively.

Whilst the idea in itself may seem bizarre and cliché, from the love in a child's heart came various positive prospects. The few species of wildlife that remained on the Earth are more accustomed to the friendliness of a child, thus the females will take the helpless babe under their wings and fur.
Do not be fooled however, the continuously developing minds of the human race thus resulted in infants having intelligence far beyond what we could comprehend now.

So whilst I was on the train I got started on sketching some runes and motifs for this planet so that I know what kind of shapes make sense.
For the first line I went with what first came to mind for some sort of logo for the mission set by the adults that left; a logo for Generation Earthchild itself. I thought of a circle to represent the Earth and a line drawn out diagonally to represent linear travel I suppose.
Then I thought of abstract outlines of things linking to 'baby culture', such as bottles and pacifiers. Then relating to the landing pad and storks.
At this point I realised that for runes, if they were written by the infants themselves, they wouldn't be anything ridiculously complex and well structured no matter -how- highly developed they are, simply because when a child or artist draws, they draw what they want to draw. An abstract artist can draw abstractly as a matter of choice, as can a child.

So, the runes therefore should be scribbles, the language uniformly recognised in baby culture, totally makes sense, right?

I've decided that I'm going to keep working on this in my own time, rather than for a contest entry; got a lot of stuff on my plate at the moment and dont want to get overwhelmed! I will post the link at a later date for anyone who's interested.
