Was kinda unmotivated today so it was pretty hard to get started though finished that photo study.

Started the thing from imagination I was gonna render, just did the sketch. Will fix stuff tomorrow. Prob gonna move on to bodies after this only for a little bit and then move on to environments and objects : ).

Sorry for no update : ^), two days ago lost morale after starting to render and it went downhill from there. The idea was pretty bad and generic anyways so guess I'm glad tossing it

Later I just doodled with the focus of doing concepts for the thing above^ until I got really tired and it shows. It was fun just doodling though.

Yesterday didn't feel like doing the painting, so tried to sketch some stuff and felt like ass the whole time. Should've just not have done anything art related cause it made me feel more tired and worse. You can see that I wasn't feeling my best through the drawings : ^)

Today for some reason I felt better, but decided to relax today. I'll get back into schedule tomorrow; must've just been a short motivation slump.

Doing this draw in your own style thing, I'll try to add more things to make it more distinct and finish this by a few days or so. Also advice from fzd is to change things from your reference and I think this is a good starting point.

Another thing from fzd is that I need to spend more time reading books cause little break periods at school isn't enough to finish one.

Pretty happy with what I got so far. Gonna try to finish this by Friday or during the weekend cause I need to work on a project tomorrow. I really need to experiment with new brushes with texture and need to stop zooming in too much too. After I'm done with the the figure, I wanna try to painting in very dark clouds on the edge. Having the light, darkest, and then focal point mid tone is something learned from fzd.

Also started reading Pachinko and had a great time : ), so instead of being lazy before my drawing time I'll read before.

Redid the thing from yesterday. Don't know if th perspective is right.

I'm not completely sure, but I think it is slightly off in some place. I made this quickly, but I think something like this would give a better sense of the angle you were going for. Hopefully it makes sense. I think the main issues are just the right arm and legs which seem a bit too long for the perspective you have. But I think it's a tricky angle, so I'd say it's a good try

Thanks I'm trying ;;. Yeah and I appreciate the paint over : ), it really helped a lot. Just gotta remember to do guide lines next time. Also wanted to say thanks for helping me out here and there, makes me think that someone on the forum cares < 3.

Haven't been uploading cause I've been unhappy with my paintings but now that I look at it, it's not that bad. I was upset that I didn't know how to use texture for skin and stuff though now I think I should just flat out avoid them for now. Also the hands but I've never been good at them : (

Didn't post this earlier cause I was real unhappy with the ashe fanart on the left. Was trying to do what I saw other people did on insta where they started out with a very rough sketch with a textured brush and then did their thing. Moral got really low, so just did a study for the rest of my art time doing that same method for like an hour with a hard round brush instead.

Did a lot of quick League fanart that same day at school, next time I draw riven I need to do a dynamic pose cause that pose looks pretty boring lol

Was busy all weekend. It was Lunar New Year so went to grandma's house the whole day and I needed to prove to my parents that I could drive by myself after passing my driving test @-@. Just drew some stuff when I was bored at grandmas and did a little rotation spacial practice. Kinda proud because under a year ago I wouldn't have been able to do this even though it's not mostly correct lol.

Yesterday was busy with family and needed to make my work out routine (Monday-Friday after school : ^) ).
Doodled a bit on my workout notebook and hand sanitizer saved me if something was really bothering me. Her bottom lip is a little too far out but np.
Ran out of room in my travel/observation sketchbook, so got a new one and doodled on it also. Suppose to be the same character, but duplicating the same character from a different view is hard. Mainly his eyes and nose are off for me. Hand sanitizer didn't some completely off sadly.

Had the day off from school today. Went in to school early to help out with something and went to the gym after. Was really tired the whole day after, but got something done. Was planning to do in color, didn't work out then switched to b/w didn't work out. I think I'm over complicating my process. I'm gonna spend some time watching what other painters do tomorrow and try to start something after.

Kinda sad that after a month or something of trying to learn digital I haven't gotten that far, oh well.

I'm pretty proud of myself : ), I only watched about two min of a process vid and it helped me a lot. First did a rough sketch about 30% gray then went in and did the real sketch about 80% gray. After I went over the whole face with a value a little darker than the background on the same layer and then started to shade subtly with about 40 opacity with the same brush : ^).

It's suppose to be the same character I did on the cover of my doodle sketchbook, but he turned out a different race but it's fine. The doodle took about an hour, but tomorrow I'll try to redo the study from yesterday. After I'm more comfy I'm gonna try to learn how to convert b/w to color. Now that I look at it maybe the skin is a little too light.

Redid the study, gonna finish it tomorrow. I needed to cut my time cause I need to get up real early tomorrow @-@. Had a fun time painting this though : ). The serratus is kinda hard to paint. This time I started by filling in a silhouette then going in darker for lines and correction. (ref is somewhere above)

I've been pretty selfish in terms with the forums : ^). I've only been posting on this sketchbook and nowhere else, so maybe during school I'll try to give back to this forum and comment.

I suggested to my art club teacher that we should do live figure drawings at the end of out meets, which is like monthly, and it happened : ). Sketched out two classmates and they actually stayed still : ). Also redid the spacial practice thing from over the weekend. Shame that there's no way to check to see if it's correct or not, so next time maybe drawing from a 3d model would be better.

Could keep on working on this cause still see a lot stuff I can add or fix but then I would be working on this forever. Got lazy with his left arm, leg, and his hands lol.

Update on the art project for class, his left arm is bothering me a little and need to make his torso longre by at least half a head. Also lots of observation stuff from school.

Was kinda busy today, but did a short life study of my cousin. He agreed to let me paint him for a bit if I let him stay in my room : p. I think when I start out I'm making the skin tone too light so gotta stop that. Tomorrow I think I'm not busy, so gonna try to paint with gouche for the first time and do more digital stuff. Forgot to add in the cast shadow of the glasses but oh well.

Spent most of my time grandma's on Saturday. Came home and then then sketched in my travel sketchbook. Wasn't feeling it .

Yesterday was the first time I painted with gouache : ). Failed the first two times, but that was ok. Just made it easy on myself and went with the character on the cover of my travel sketchbook. Gonna taking a break from digital and stay with gouache for awhile. I find it a lot more relaxing and it's a lot easier to choose colors cause you can limit your colors a lot easier.

Today took a break cause I was just really tired, so just did a sketch for tomorrows gouache painting fanart redraw of zoro. Wanted to do a green theme.

Went a lot deeper into the character on the front cover of my travel book at school. Guess this is my first OC. Made a story and a few basic traits for now, not sure if you guys can read anything though lol. Tomorrow gonna try to design his outfit.

Failed on the painting today, but that's fine I can do it again later. Spent about 90 minutes on it.

Tomorrow gonna practice painting gouache through studies and list the things I think I need to work on: quit using plain white for highlights (makes look unnatural) and stop only using the same color for the base of the skin (more reddish skin), start experimenting with more intense darks, and paint mixing other colors to get different skin tones.
For the fanart thing specifically forgot to add a few of his distinguishing features, like his ear ring, arm bandana, and his front torso scar. Also need to lower saturation on base of hair, make his skin less red and more light orange, weird left hand, and make his facial expression more dramatic.

Was really tired when painting today but I did something. Next time I need to do more smaller studies cause I was getting kinda bored. Maybe since I tried to paint this digitally before.

Worked on the front view of the oc at school gonna try to finish it with a side view, but I think it looks really generic. I don't know a lot about clothes and fashion.

Also I just realized I'm developing carpal tunnel at age 17 : ^). Guess it shows that I working a little hard, but also need to start drawing with my shoulder and elbow more. Started getting weakness and very minor pains last week in my wrist and hands. I suspected it and thought I was delusional but it got noticeably worse when I was writing for a class and was working on my oc. Good thing I caught it early.

Just gonna try to dump everything lol. Gonna switch back to just doing digital art stuff after failing pretty badly with gouache, but it gave me courage to try colors in digital and made me think more about shapes which is pretty good. May go back to gouache after a long while right now I'm just to impatient to work with it.

Took a break from drawing today and will do for tomorrow also. I don't have carpal tunnel, but I have tendonitis instead so I just need to rest my hands for a while by not playing video games also : ^).

Did this self portrait yesterday from mirror with natural lighting. My skin is a lot more orange than this but I suprized myself but still messy :p. Gonna start working more in color and I want to try making more clean work. My wrist was burning after working on it for a while.

all my drawing things from school or observation. The cafe and green book drawings were for school. I did the cafe today for a my groups business logo project. Was kinda rushed with only like 40 minutes to do it on a huge poster and it's so messy with the hands being fucked up.

wow you seem very busy with many kinds of things, it seems you are already busy enough and discovering things so no point in advice, keep it up. perhaps the only thing is i would love to start seeing some finished products or finished sketches

@fm thanks for looking at the sketchbook : p. I want to start doing more finished stuff but it's kinda daunting cause my rendering isn't that good imo lol

I started doing more drawings on the computer trying to ease back into drawing a little slowly and eventually back into my regular art schedule. When I was drawing a bit on the computer my wrist didn't hurt so I think I'm good to go draw regularly but gonna hold off of video games now.

Did some studies on rice field workers today for about 1.5 hours. Pretty fun but I got real tired and I need to get up early tomorrow. I'll try to make all my sketches similar to the one on the left at least. Tomorrow I'll try to finish the study on the right and try to make a more finished study.

I planning on drawing a lot yesterday, but I overslept on my nap and after I was really tired. Still did something though. The doodle on the top left inspired me to do studies on the workers.

Sorry for all the self portraits : ^) this vector style thing was assigned from my digital design class. I worked on it a lot at home and a lot during my free time at school on the school computer. I was at least still doing something art related and it was pretty easy on my wrist also. I'll post an update it again when it's done. I think it was good cause I got to practice choosing different colors and shape design so.

Another messy study @_@ Good thing is that my colors have gotten better without using any of the color pick tool. I want to learn how to do finished smoothed finished paintings but I honestly don't know how and even though they're messy they take a while to do.

Spent about two hours on this. Still don't know what I'm doing

Today another study. Tried to use different things today, but still ended up mainly doing the same thing. I don't really like using the air brush and I don't know when to use different layer modes while working through the process. I'm trying to just get comfy with the multiply and overlay.

Tomorrow will spend some time looking at what other people do online : ^)

a study from last week

Tried to do a still life in my room, but put too many objects in the still life so @_@. Drawing straight lines and ellipses were pretty hard, but I fixed it by making a temporary shortcut for the rotation tool

Tried again the next day with only one item, but was rushed cause my friends wants to practice for a LoL tournament for the next day..

Studies and doodles from Sunday

Haven't figured drawn in a while, so a lot of 45 sec studies. Used my school computer screen to show the images.

3 30 minute studies from yesterday and face doodles. Yeah and gonna try to ban myself from color picking from my references from now on.

Didn't do too much today, but took my time do studies of legs. Studying digitally is a lot more effective and fun than just doing it in pencil or pen like I only did before digital. Also looks better ;p. Tomorrow gonna do a little more leg studies and try to do some at school also. I need to test myself soon and draw bodies from my head, but I feel confident in painting portraits now in color.

Art teacher said paint whatever you want in acrylic so yeah, doing something with my oc and tryign to worldbuild a little. Planning is to the right side. Blimp still a wip : ).

Doodles and studies I did at home or at school. On Saturday I think I felt very unmotivated, so I just went outside and sketched stuff for 2ish hours (bottom 2 blue inks and top right cars) and felt a lot better after, but had the League of Legends team composition at night.

Took a break today, but still tried to do a little something @-@. Gonna render this sometime over the weekend, but tomorrow I want to try making the most rendered portrait I can : ^). Probably not gonna look that rendered lol.

Update on the painting from my art class. Progress is slow cause I only get 45 minutes everyday in class and wasn't able to go to my art class during the free period. I referenced the walls from the Attack on Titan walls and also the color now.

Started the render thing yesterday and did more progress with it today : ^).
from today Experimented using the gouache brush for rendering, but I want to know how to blend more smoothly. I need to do practice rendering more deeply more after this with studies : ^). Also this is the oc i made a few weeks ago.

From yesterday, was pretty tired. Realized this is very similar to something I did for the same character, but oh well. Changed his expression from yesterday.

Was tired yesterday so posting this at school @-@. I finished the painting from past few days yesterday and got a small crit from someone very skilled on a discord server.

What they mainly said is that I need to fix my shadows (there's only one light source, so shadows are more uniform and intense/think of a sphere), camera placement/pose was awkward (I should've just tried to be plain and simple and bring the HL down to the body), use less base colors, and a few more things but I forgot, he thought he was not being clear enough so he deleted it before i could take a picture. I'm gonna redo it again tonight and tomorrow since I have the day off from election day.

Study from yesterday got really tired

My DMAD teacher let me bring home the school iPad, so sketched small stuff a bit before I went to bed or at school.
