Went back and fixed the thing from yesterday a little, realizing it's pretty terrible : ^)... I'm not that experienced drawing clothes, so maybe study them later or something. Sorry if this picture is repetitive < /3.

Never really draw people like laying down or sitting on the floor from imagination, so tried to do it. Quick idea was to have her look like she was waking up at a place she didn't know, maybe she got wasted idk. First sketch I wanted her to be kinda laying down, but looked like she was a banana cause her abs would've needed to be awkwardly flexed and also tried different had positions. Ended up with her sitting up instead.

Honestly this is pretty ass and would be so much easier if I've done this in pencil but I want to learn : ^). Might or might not finish this tomorrow though.

I joined this art server on Discord recently. That server's full of really amazing people on there, they're really experience with painting. I was in call with them and they were starting to do timed master studies, so I joined and streamed my screen with them. I felt like I wasn't good enough and was getting a little ignored, but I learned a lot in a short time : ^).

I need to start using more brushes cause I only use one brush to render and another to sketch. Next time they steam I'll just watch them and take notes and stuff.

I'm trying out Clip Studio Paint and it's a lot better than Krita. It doesn't overload my computer and the brushes you're able to get is a lot better with textures and stuff : ^). Started to switch to Clip Studio, so yes. Tomorrow gonna try to experiment by trying to paint a portrait in color. Don't know what brushes I should use to start rendering.

Just screwed around today and set up the new program. Spent about an hour and a half on this.

Been a bit < 3. I'll just dump the things i did from the past 3 days.

From imagination 3 days ago. Became frustrated and gave up then watched art vids after lol. I think I need to study individual features again to learn how to render and detail them painting.

Tried again from imagination yesterday, but gave up still lol. Got a tip from a nice person to try to block on colors more before blending out. I was in a group call and they wanted me to do a disgusted face.

From today, did a study to practice block ins and gonna finish it tomorrow by blending. Originally wanted to do it in color, but I kept on getting values wrong since the left side of his face seemed so light to me. I need to learn how to choose the correct base colors : ^).

All the stuff I sketched from school from past 3 days. Gonna shift to trying to draw from imagination instead of drawing other students. I really need to learn foreshortened arms and legs : ^).

Gonna call the study done. Gonna start another study tomorrow, but try it with no before hand sketching like I usually do. I found a lot of really talented people with digital on a discord server, but I'm still to shy to ask for help : ^).

Finally on winter break : ^). Yesterday didn't do anything at home, but did a lot of doodles from my head and a study at school.

Today was not a great day. All the sketches I did on digital did not look right and I became really frustrated : ^). But I at least learned something about layer modes from Arron Blaise (multiply/overlay) and I only ever used the normal layer mode, but I think I should mostly use layer modes after as finishing touches and stuff.

Honestly think I don't have what it takes to learn how to paint or digital paint . I don't really think I improved that much lately and I started a long time ago and been trying for a long time.

Stopped doing the thing from yesterday, but watched and took notes on someone's painting process and it was really helpful and it seemed really simple the way she explained. After wanted to do a black and white redraw to color of Riven : ^), but disappointed myself again lol. To make myself better I just did it traditionally lol.

Might take a break from digital for a few days cause it's making me sad lol and next time I really need to just not give a damn and just try to render ;;.

I'm getting really bad at updating lol, but Happy Christmas xd. Here's everything from the last time I posted.

Finished the Riven portrait. I think that the lighting is really confusing lol. I need to practice working with more primary and secondary lighting never really done it before.

I sent it for critique in another place and they were nice enough to do a paintover ;; and they said consider cast shadow and conceptualize major forms first. I was gonna try to fix it, but I really didn't want to : ^). Yeah so looks like I needed to be a bit stronger with my shadows and form in general.

Today I did a bunch of studies digitally. Trying to paint in a different way with no sketching first. Trying to paint the base color first with the silhouette then a lot of layers with shadows and then lights. After awhile I combine all of the different layers and render it all together.

A redo of a another photostudy from September cause I'm running out of ref images on my computer lol < 3. Gonna try to finish this all tomorrow

Haven't been working on art stuff as much as I would like past few days, but that's fine as long as I can get back into it soon.

Finished the digital photostudy today, I think it's a big improvement < 3.

Today also took about 2.5 hours on this. First time making a portrait something other than a human : p. sorry that picture is bad

Yesterday went to an amusement park with my family and brought my sketchbook. We were always moving and I didn't feel that comfy whipping it out so.

Gonna take a short break on digital for a bit. I ordered a digital painting book from Amazon, so gonna wait for it and focus on other things like back poses/forward and pulled back shoulder positions.

Did this painting tonight and was pretty tired @-@ , took about 2 hours. Kinda sucks and is pretty basic. You can barely tell it's a guy walking through a field and the clouds aren't good lol. Probably because I didn't feel like giving my all at the time : (.

Happy new years : P, family was doing stuff today so I was a bit busy. Did a few back studies from my phone, but got tired after a bit. Tomorrow gonna go in and do more back studies and some back poses from imagination.

Oh yeah and thanks to whoever featured me <3, kinda an honor that the stuff on this sketchbook is good enough to be showcased on the front page.

I started playing stardew valley and I got addicted to it and played it almost all day lol ;;. I at least got myself to draw, but felt very demotivated.

I already know mostly all of the back muscle and insertions. I just need to start drawing them from imagination more.

Had more discipline today : ^). Did a lot of studies and did a little stuff from imagination. For some reason made myself really nervous when drawing from imagination. Gonna do more from my head tomorrow and the digital book should be coming tomorrow also.

Yesterday the digital art book came in and the first chapter was all about different ways people can make their own custom brushes. I only used default and downloaded brushes cause when I tried to make them in Krita my computer broke. I got really frustrated trying to learn how to make brushes in clip studio, but I was proud of myself when I figured it out : p .

I was also really unmotivated to draw backs again for the 3rd day in a row. Not my best from imagination, but I can at least say I'm more comfy with drawing them.

Hung out with a friend for most of my day. After I made new brushes. You guys probably don't care but here's me playing with them and the settings. Might just use the texture part very lightly.

I read chapter 2 of the digital art book today and it was about speed painting. A bunch of professional artist explained their own process of making their speed paint. They said their speed paint environments were required to be only a few hours and it all looked really good : ^). As a whole they said to figure out values, composition, ideas/mood, and shapes first before adding more details.

I was trying to follow their processes but quit . I did not know what I was doing the whole time, I don't have that much experience with environments, I think the prompt I gave myself suckeed. I tried again but still got nowhere. I think I should stay with humans and simple object stuff for now since I'm still new to digital.

I think it's better for you to stay away from speedpaintings right now. You're trying to do what professional artists with probably years of experience and who are comfortable with digital do. So if you're new to digital or try to tackle a subject you're not as familiar with, like environments, then you're likely to be disappointed with the result.

I think it's better to built your skills by making the best work you can, however long it may take you. Over time you'll build a good visual library, have more experience and confidence and speed will come naturally.

I don't know if you seen the FEng Zhu youtube channel, but perhaps this video might help you. Honestly, his youtube channel is one of my favorite, so I'd recommend checking some of his other videos too if you have time.

@cedricgo Yeah I completely agree with you lol. I think I'm trying to rush myself cause I'm thinking about applying to art school next year and I don't think I'm good enough to get in. But yeah thanks though for the advice < 3, I'll stay with humans and single objects for now until I get more comfy. And I've heard of them fzd school though never watched their videos cause it's too long, but I'll the one you suggested when I can.

Forgot to mention that winter break ended today and tired. Tomorrow gonna read some portions of the humans sections of the digital book. Also tried not to us th color picker unless I really needed help.
Took a little over an hour to do.

Started this, but tired. I'll finish it tomorrow.

Didn't spend that much time drawing today. I read a section on painting humans in the digital art book and I've been approaching portrait photo studies in a way that won't help as much. Like what I usually do is try to copy the silhouette first and not really think about the basic form of the face first which is an eggish shape, so I'll probably redo the study from yesterday tomorrow and I still need to watch the fzd video.

Art class is starting a new long term project and the topic is inside outside which is really weird and really general @-@. Spent some time at school and at home coming up with ideas. I ended with a spell thief starting to steal something from a guarded magic library.
