So I'm gonna stop saying that I am back because life seems to have other plans for me haha. Not gonna lie, been pretty disheartened lately. Had a family emergency with my sister that took the wind out of my sails, then some other stuff that really just blew up and caused a lot of stress and tanked my schedule completely. I was able to do a few exercises but with constant interruptions and stress, they just didn't work and my focus has been pretty drained.
Wanted to get them posted up nonetheless, even if they are missing one of the exercises entirely. Trying my best to get back but, at this point, I will just be posting when I can and hopefully I will be able to get a schedule again. When I will be able to get that again is anyone's guess, but here's to hoping
Gestures are pretty rusty. Disappointed in them but I'm gonna get back on the horse as best as I can and hopefully I'll start feeling them again. They could be worse afterall, so I'm not gonna beat myself over them too much.
This was a really nice distraction, took longer than what I wanted it too but oh well, was able to finish at least and it helped distract from the situations.
I did this one about right as everything was going down so it was a bit of a rushed study. I wanted to try to emulate his sketchy style and very quickly found that it was FAAAAR more difficult than what I thought it was going to be hahah. He has a very loose style that is about the opposite of what I've been trying to get myself to so it was a nice challenge for myself.
I would say it was a failure in terms of what my goal was, but I still got some interesting things out of it, such as how he constructs the figure and how he renders the musculature. Not only that, I got to draw Batman, so I'll take it haha.
Will revisit at a later date.
I don't remember how I came upon this project, as I don't really to TTRPG's at all. Nothing against them by any means, just never been my thing but something about the Art Style caught my attention and wanted to do a quick study of it. After looking into it a bit more, really dug the whole design of the book and it got my graphic design roots fired up a bit so decided to back it for nothing but the artwork and the overall design. The whole thing was a nice distraction and finished the study in a little under an hour one evening when I was able to sneak away for a bit.
Not counting it towards one of the "Studies" as it was more of a way for me to try and destress a bit and just have some fun in a not so fun time. It was fun, served its purpose. Not great but oh well. I drew something at least.
Also, just realized I forgot her eyebrows and shes a bit off balance hahah. Woops, guess that'll happen sometimes. Will do better next time.
This one I spent a bit more time on, not as much as I would've liked to but again, it was a drawing and it helped me to destress. Plus, got to draw Raphael, so I'll take it.
This one felt much better than the other ones and I still approached it more like one of my studies but my focus was elsewhere. Initially I was going to try to go with a lighter line weight as was used in the reference, but as I was on limited time, decided to just have a bit more fun with it and treat it more like a destress exercise.
It was actually really hard at times haha, it is pretty crazy how drastically different each comic artist's approach to anatomy can be and it really shows how the inking plays a role in fleshing out the forms. I don't know who the artist for the comic is but I really enjoy their style and would like to revisit it at a later date.
Anyways, thank you all for looking. I hope you are all doing well and that your journey's are still going smoothly. Hope to get a chance to look over what everyone has been up to again soon.
