This is off to a fantastic start! Great work! I went over this because something looked a bit off with the fireplace. It checks out on it's construction but its left side is directly on the vanishing point which calls a lot of attention to the side of the fireplace. it may work a bit better if you adjust it to the right a little bit so we can see the thickness and take it off that line. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, I'm a noob I just read last night in a Loomis book that the vanishing point can be used as a point of focus so thought it might apply here.

Finally finished the 1 point perspective. Shading isn’t great but that’s not my main focus. Took longer than I would have liked. 8hrs! Any feedback would be great

Another 2 point perspective shot. This was much quicker <2hrs. Used google maps as reference. Turned out alright.

Ohhh yeah! This reads really well! I can tell you spent a ton of time on this. I think the fireplace works well there! Very nice job. The only thing that I could say about this is the rocking chair feels a bit off. I played around with the image in photoshop and unfortunately I don't have a good answer. There are a few things that make this chair uniquely difficult, one is the rotated angle and two is the tilt to the chair because its a rocking chair. I don't know how to solve this issue specifically in one point perspective but I think you would need to change it to 2 point perspective to solve. Sorry I don't have a better answer! However this did turn out really well!

Thanks @lockenheim. Yes I do agree with the chair it is quite a difficult chair to draw. It was drawn on a 2 point perspective, but it’s the only part of this scene that is. Perhaps this is why it stands out so much. It would be great to get tips on how to appropriately draw objects that are perfectly straight therefore doesn’t fall in the 1 point perspective.

I think the best option would be to draw a cube in 1 point perspective and then draw the item inside that cube. But truthfully I have never attempted many organic shapes inside one point perspective.

@Lockenheim I forgot about this. There’s a guy who does really good ebooks, here’s a sample on adding different objects that are different angles. Hopefully this helps. They guy this is from is called Mitch Leeuwe, you can check him out on gum road. He’s very good at explaining things simply. Highly recommend,

Great progress and studies @alwaysneedsleep. I think one of the concepts that always confuses me (and I have to tackle it) is the fact that a single picture can have multiple vanishing points for different angled objects. And I never seem to easily find anyone who adds this concept to their perspective lessons. Or maybe I’m just a little lost.

Anyway, keep your great work!

@charlieodow yeah it is a tricky subject esp when you start looking at organic scenes, establishing a vanishing point can be tricky. The guy I mentioned above, his ebook is 49 pgs just on perspective, the pages aren’t dense so you can quickly get through them. I’m sure Marc will go through them but it never heard to have a different perspective (pun intended 😂) on the subject.

Thank for sharing your… perspective @alwaysneedsleep. And puns. I actually love Mitchel’s art. Is the style that inspires me and would love to achieve with solid fundamentals. I’m going to do my best and try to get the best bundles, they seem like a perfect option. I’m also enrolled in Schoolism, but don’t tell anyone.

@charlieodow hopefully we will they there together 🙂. Haha you sound like me, gotta collect as many resources as you can. I got all of michaels ebooks and videos, although there are things there that don’t interest me it’s still worth having. I’ve never heard of schoolism, any good?

That is an accurate description of my day to day. Gotta catch em' all.
For the record, I followed your advice and basically bought the complete set from Mitch. So good.

Scoolism? Yeah, I think is great. Lot’s of incredible industry artists with really good guided clases. Like Bobby Chiou, Cody Gramstad and Craig Mullins. There’s a monthly access to all courses if you ever want to just try it. Problem is I want to go trough all courses at once.

I really love Aaron Blaise (Creature Art Teacher) too if your into Disney and animation. Just too many artists offering their knowledge makes me so happy.

@charlieodow Lol, I think my problem has been the lake of structure in my art progression, that’s why I want to finish this course and stick to it for once haha. Gonna try my hardest not to be sidetracked by the temptress that is other art courses haha.

Yes exactly may to many artists too choose from! I’m not a massive Disney art fan but I do appreciate it, I’m more into the manga anime styles myself.

I see you are using different line weights based on the variation of distance and light/shadow, it helped a lot creating the sense of distance/depth on the perspective studies - it looks great.
