Hello all! Decided to try my hand in this competition. I think there will a lot of skilled artist and the chance to win something is not very high for me. But anyway, it will be a good practice and very fun I think :>

Final illustration (click on picture to see full-size)

Okay, I will participiate in Fantasy category.
My hero is Sanda'at - the God of light and sun. He is a dragon.
I will consider and part human part dragon view, and fully dragon view.
Now I made very rough sketch of his anthropomorphic body and I'm trying to find the best variant of his head. This variants not the final of course. (and anatomy also will be fixing)

I found a good variant for head and horns, and fixed some anatomy issues.
Also I was inspired by wings of angels from diablo series and decided to give my character something simillar.
Now making an armor...

Well... A few variants of armor with very little differences.
I think I'll choose 4th. Maybe... I'll see when will choose colors.
But next what I should do is his back

Started to render in b/w. Some layers hided.

Here's a thing I don't get to say that often - the contrast is too strong. The image is very hard to look at, you have both pure whites and almost pure blacks with almost nothing in between them to ease the eye from the first extreme to the other.
Here's what your values look like right now. The peak is what you have most of. Notice how far to the right (white) it is. (I'm aware that includes the BG)

Here's what they look like after I changed the image a bit in the brightness/contrast tab. Still favouring the right, but noticeably more to the centre.

And here's how the image itself looks now:

It's easier on the eye and the whites and blacks pop out more.

Less is more, mate! Hopefully I was helpful, I'll keep an eye out for the next update ;3

Oh, thank you a lot for advice! I'll try to fix it c:

The wings look like Arcangels from WoW, the artist TamplierPainter has some great Illustrations of them

Don't know about Archangels in WoW, but in Diablo they have such wings too. I wrote somewhere here that it inspired by them (: And yeah, TamplierPainter has really great illustrations.

Almost finished horns. Changed a bit wings (they are still on sketch step).
And I have feeling that there is too much simillar colors in design. I should to think where to make some accents.
Btw, I have 2 variants of armor's color, but the 1st one I like more (or 2nd one good too? Hmm...)

and i should to draw more, because today I did not much in my opinion

Finished today back view. So, final concept I suppose. Going to add to the first post as well.
Now I have to think about idea and composition of illustration
