Nice job, sorry can't help much, I like most of your color combination. Except the lighter ones, perhaps you can imagine her glory pose and environment, then decide on which would make her stand out more? Just a thought.

@kinonato hey kino, thanks for your feeedback! I was just thinking the same thing... I did like some of the lighter color palettes but to me they began looking too royal and angel like, especially with gold and white lol. I feel i'm gonna have a hard time portraying her as evil in the illustration, so i decided to go with number 3, with some tweaks here and there

aaaand now im off to rendertown! haha. thank you for your opinion

New headdress was a good choice, I love the shape and negative space!
Some crit: the ends of the cloth wrappings that hang down, they look a bit scrappy right now in my opinion and don't suit the rest of the costume. Maybe adding some decoration, pattern, accessory to the ends might make them suit more?

Can't wait to see where you take this!

Hey guys, I've finally found some time to start on this character front view render.
i've just started on this, so it still has waaays to go, but I tried to block in the mood, lighting, color, and punched in some more values and contrast - mainly just adjusting

there will be more changes made throughout my process, but heres what I have so far.
hopefully i'll post more progress soon. Cheers everyone!

quite nice design! I love her headgear Maybe you can add sth shiny in the hole? To be honest the upper body looks really awesome and detailed but her legs are a bit boring right now. So I'm looking forward to see your further progress

Awesome design, really nice shapes in the headdress. One thing that jumped out is that there's quite a mix of styles in the ornamentation; the headdress itself is very plain and bone-like, while the markings on the upper torso are very curling and vine-like and then more sharp and angular lines on the lower abdomen and around the neck. Not necessarily a problem, just something you might want to consider.

Love the way its shaping up, can't wait to see more! Are you planning on showing off her magic power in any way?

@PetitChat Thanks for your comment I definitely feel ya where the bottom half may seem too boring.. my intent was to try and control the detail noise level to create focal areas, but I may have to rethink about that! thank you for the valuable feedback

@albek hey, thanks for pointing that out My plan was to have two different kinds of "gold" decor, first is the feathery gold plates on her dress, and the rest would be the viny, curling shapes on her torso + mask. I definitely need to make that clear as I progress further into rendering. thanks for pointing that out!

As for her magical effects, I plan on showing that on the illustration, not so much on the character concept sheet.

Ah, I understand Maybe you can add some less saturated or darker ornaments? E.g. just on her ankle or at the side of her pants? Or just a slit at the side? That way the upper and lower body should match up again and you don't ruin your focal area.

Hey guys!

So I've been sick in bed due to a flu for almost an entire week.. so I have very slow progress and no updates, I apologize for that!

But now I'm feeling a bit better so I found myself some energy to finish up & update

these are steps 1~6. Not much but I thought I should still share some progress.
Around step 3 I realized I was focusing too much on "ILLUSTRATING" my character based off of the toned background I had, and was wasting too much time (also it was harder to get better value separations).
So I decided to change the background to a simpler gradient background.

Here is the final image:

Next up is the back view, and a call out on her finger claw (maybe)

Thought I'd stop by and see your progress! Loving the simple value read. Maybe some dramatic lighting could push interest in the figure, though! Interested in how you'll figure out the illustration part ^^ cheers~
