Hello everyone!

I am Andry aka DesignSHIBA, i'm a Freelance Illustrator from Surabaya, Indonesia. I love Fantasy stuff especially with Asian culture influence.

My Champion name is Yashura. She an Oni who live in the world of Jigoku-rei no shakai (地獄の社会) or Jigoku-rei for short. Basically it's a world base of Japanese Hell Culture Folk Story.

She a Tsuki-akari no Oni or Moonlight Ogre type. In this world Oni type people are the lesser being or a peasant and the Akuma type are the Royalty member of this world and ruling all the Jigoku-rei for the each realm (Based on Japanese Shinto and Asian Buddhist believe, Hell have 8 realm for each demon and devil has a difference look in each realm).

For Yashura she was one of the citizen in the level 1 realm in Jigoku-rei name Takama-ga-hara which is the weakest realm in Jigoku-rei and majority the citizen are the Onis type. Yashura is a Moonlight Oni which is the highest Oni class citizen in this realm and the daughter of the leader of Mangetsu Clan or Family of The Full Moon and the only Oni Family who acquire and lead one of Jigoku-rei realm.

Okay enough about world. So Yashura is a mischief girl. She never listen to her father and always make a riot in the realm. No one can beat Yashura in agile battle because she a Moonlight Oni who have a ability to control her speed with Speed type Magoi (Magic) based on the Moon energy which she can stored with her two horns. She's the ace assassin in her clan and the only Moonlight Oni who can use Physical Attribute Magoi. Generally Moonlight Oni are the best in their Mystic Attribute Magoi because their unusual intelligence than other Oni types. So basically this is more about how Yashura being a mischief girl gonna try to travel every realms of Jigoku-rei and find some fun experience in the every realms.

for the early concepts, i try to sketch and explore Yashura head an horn shape which is important for an Oni called Oni.

And as the sketch continue i chose 3 of the head and horn shape which i like and have a quite different shape than typical Oni horn shape in the folklore book.

i thinking about make the ear and horn become one so it become an unique design for Moonlight Oni species. they using their horn to store power from the moon light and receive sound by wind vibration.

@Kreyhardt thx dude. well i'm not planing to get her an armor type costume though. because the lore of Moonlight Oni are more like a mage or shaman, so i gonna design it more to like a silk clothes but maybe a bit armor part gonna be cool too. i don't know but let see how it gonna be hahahahhaa

Some costume design variations for my character Yashura. The design really inspire and influence by Alexander McQueen design aesthetic, because i'm really a big fan of Alexander McQueen design style.

i still don't know which one i gonna choose from these design draft, maybe i gonna try a few more before i gonna settle with the final costume design for her

I find the horns and the hanging ribbons from design no. 3 interesting. And I like her costume from no. 9. I think it really fits her personality (mischievous) and her job (assassin). It looks more practical than others too. You are doing a really good job. Definitely looks like a unique character so far. Keep them coming!

I love the design 8, Simple and has some memorable features like those on her side rib.

@kreyhardt the side clothes shape actually i reference that from paper shape on Japanese Shinto wand name Gohei (御幣), onbe (御幣), or heisoku (幣束). It's wooden wands, decorated with two shide (zigzagging paper streamers) used in Shinto rituals. The shrine priest or maiden attendants (miko) use the gohei to bless or sanctify a person or object in Shinto rituals. The gohei is used for some ceremonies to cleanse a sacred place in temples and to bless, or exorcise any object that is thought to have negative energy.

Woah damn, good research and reference leads to a great design, that's really interesting though, adding a real life object that actually represent something to a design really gives it more immersion and we get connected to the character more. Amazing work and effort man!

@Kreyhardt yeah dude you should do a lot of research before doing something like this. Well it's also stressed me out a little bit though. Because there's many iconic character design out there it's really get challenging sometimes hahahahahaaa

Here some several color test for Yashura maybe anyone can give some suggestion or opinion about it it's gonna be great

some of the horn is red because i was thinking about make it a soft hard material more like a soft bone or a soft stone and it's really pops up quite a bit as a female. And i also planning it gonna be glowing in the dark so it have a bit function to it's color for send a signal, etc.
