Very rough sketch. Started thinking about her age, I tried the child/young adult and older version and I decided between the young adult and child.(I think the old version doesnt work for what I'm aiming for.) I relized that if she will be a child she will have a large animal protecting her and if shes a young adult she will have a small animal,she will also be colorful from potions gathering on her.
Would love to hear what you think so far 
Good start! I think it's a good idea to include an animal with a size contrast! I would suggest you push the silhouettes a bit more (for example some shoulder armor to protect her in battle). Good luck and good job so far!

worked a bit on the animal size comparison, I want him to be a tiger with the tail of a fish, Not sure about his design yet and I worked on the shoulder Armour that's going to be a good design start for the rest of her body. Next I'm going to work on the silhouettes. I would love to know you opinions and which of the armors you like best!
Rough characters silhouette I still can't decide between the child and the young adult. with the adult i think i like 2-3 and with the child i like 6 and 8 (maybe 7's skirt)

I'm also thinking of giving her a special potion shooting bow&arrow.
Really hard to decide, especially for the young adult (maybe a mix of all of them haha).
I'm not so sure about the child tho...maybe a mix of 7+8 ?

I forgot something...the second design is maybe a bit too the evil side for the young adult ? (sharp shapes, mostly black tints, etc...).

hmmm. very interesting problem, choosing between young adult and child. personally, id choose the child over the young adult, because i think that both a child and an adult are cooler, and easier for me to work with, than a young adult. i love the direction though! keep it up!
I'm kind of at a stand still because the child doesn't feel like a hero to me, no matter how I stylize her I kind of see her as the adult version in training
