@independhans Thanks! no it's not. it's a material by @marc that he supplied with a tutorial. It's helps me see the smaller details that skinshade or the standard grey won't!
@sarawildeart Thanks! It's definitely not easy, I model bases for most of it in maya first to make it a tad easier.
I finally finished the sculpt. I've decided to leave the cape for now. Onto retopo and textures! I've decided to go with hand painted so I'll do the chain mail later with alphas,
Lookin nice so far! All i'd say is that you should push your details a little further, they look almost illustrated on, so they may not catch the eye enough in the normal map. Also, while it may be coincidental, you're definetly starting to get a bit overwatch-y with those pants; if that's the style you're going for then you'll probably want to check out the J.C Leyendecker book on clothing. Blizzard stated at the most recent Zbrush summit that they were mainly inspired by his work when considering how they were going to do cloth.
Hope that helps, looking forward to more!
@aveon : This is mostly a base for my textures, going hand painted, so there won't be any normals! Just a diffuse. Definitely coincidental with the pants! I remember their talk at the Zbrush summit and watched it again not recently so I must have absentmindedly used that information while making it. Going to be checking out that book too, always good to see where the pros get their inspiration from.
@sarawildeart : I've been debating constantly as to the art style I want to take this and settled on hand painted since I know it far better than PBR. I've already started retopo so here's to hoping it'll be done by the end of the day!
Thanks for the feedback!
@sarawildeart & @aveon : Thanks!!
@jeebs : Yes, it's going to be hand painted
@fantasymaster : The head and chest have been unwrapped for it. But otherwise I'm already at 2 texture maps and that's not including the map for all the alphas I'm adding later. Hopefully the chest and the head not being symmetrical will be enough with the alphas(including hair) to go with it.
the textures look awesome!
I would bump up your saturation a bit, and I would also add more contrast to your textures, right now it seems like there is no 100% white and no 100% black. Even if you aren't using white and black in your textures, you would want to have equivalent values in your texture.
With all that said, great work though!
