Wow, are you planing to 3d print the beast? It looks like the Kanabo would not fit inside the tail correctly or maybe it is just the angle.

Yeah I had to adjust a few things like make the ropes bigger to slide on and adjust the tail. Good eye. My goal is to eventually get it printed. Not sure when though. @fantasymaster

Ok thanks, I will have to look into that boolian method.

referring to the Hi res detail, I meant the smaller folds of skin, the pores, and a lot of the noise. This is because I know some people like to use alphas (like myself) but I am not sure where to cut off and where to sculpt it myself, along with various techniques associated with high level detail.

oh ok lol @DragonicSculptor . No I didnt use any alphas this time on the skin. Just used the Dam Standard and standard brush with the Orbs Crack Brush. I tend not to use alphas too much. I want a particular look and unless its exactly what I want I wont use them and just sculpt it by hand. I should probably start using them more. Would save me a bunch of time. I did however use an alpha or two on the rocky parts towards the end though.

Hey @alien_hand ! Im glad you like it. The images you see are just decimated models in Keyshot or Marmoset Toolbag (depending on how lazy I am. lol The recent ones are Keyshot) I'm actually still retopologizing it now. I've been moving a little slow with it. So theres no maps yet. I actually bake everything in Substance Painter. I feel like it gets really good results. Im trying to get a new update soon with some basic normal and ao maps to show but it might be a bit. This dude is taking forever to reto haha

I'm still learning substance painter. So can you bake normal maps from high poly to low in it? If so then that would be amazing... I was asking about the maps as I was having some issues with xnormal lol want wanted to reverse engineer yours hahahaha. Killer work dude I'll be keen to check out your topology for this bad boy. I know retopologizimg my bear was a pain in the arse and my character is so much more simpler than yours.

haha. Its taking me forever to reto this freaking thing. Since theres no poly limit Im trying to take advantage of that for once. I never do. Yeah @alien_hand you can bake from high to low and it creates all the maps that you can make. Its really good too. I def would recommend it. Dude retoing is a painnnnn. I spent a few hours on it yesterday and barely made a dent. I dont forsee an update for a while but Im trying to go as fast as possible. Im still here haha.

Yeah I just try to zone out to music while doing it and eventually hours will pass by. i kind of look at it like a puzzle lol. @maxloegler By autoretopo I take it you mean like just zremeshing ? or is there some awesome secret method that you use that I dont know about? Speaking of which what DO you do for your characters? I saw your older work on your website. Ridiculous stuff man. Great work.

it's indeed a puzzle!
yeah i meant zremesher .. used it for the skulls, cause makes no sense to retopo them by hand.
i used topo-gun alot, but for this i used the topo-tools inside maya, they are awesome, cause simple and everything stays inside maya..
but by no means am i fast, it takes me ages to do stuff, cause i love quads!!

I realllllllllllly considered just zremeshing this thing and calling it a day but I just couldnt justify it. I figured since we have till the end of febuary that I might as well take the tim to retopo it. At least most of it. What I decided to do is just Zremesh it and take it into maya and clean it up and add better topology in areas that need it. Yeah Mayas Retopo tools are great. Really quick. @maxloegler

hehe, thats true, you have plenty of time left, and maybe you learn something here and there.
i wouldn't zremesh and than clean it up, that's just a pain in the ass and you end up retopoing all anyway. never less looking fore ward to your topo

Over half way done with retopologizing. Going to do some bakes today but a buddy of mine saw my cut up model and wanted to print it so I figured I might as well post it here to show that too. Did a small quick print just to test if the pieces fit together .
Now were doing a much bigger detailed print. The head alone is 7.5 inches long and 5 in tall
