The hair idea sounds interesting. I wonder how that will look. Welp there isn't much feedback I can give here. Keep up the good work. I'm also interested in seeing those colors.

dude, I just found it and kept scrolling and the more I scrolled the more inspired I got
congratulations, it's getting really good!

@marianoeliceche thank you! glad you like it
@malcom thanks ^^ taking longer than I thought to get to the hair
@ricardoviana thank you I appreciate it!

sorry for the lack of updates, been working on figuring out the head. back to sculpting, decided to revisit the head and bring a stronger mix of japanese male/chimp/japanese snow monkey. probably doing hair tomorrow

woo, finally on the hair, feels good! He's got a lot of it though... so it's taking some decent time to layout. Doing my best to avoid the cliche wukong style hair, and am using a variety of different monkeys fur as reference. Hope you like it so far, sure is night and day visually from the last post.

It's almost like we have a different character here. Still looks really cool. I was thinking why not look at goku base form from dragon ball for hair reference but that would just break the character design. Overall, I'm liking the demon horns and added teeth.

third attempt at making a mask for the belt that I like. pretty happy with this chunky one.
@malcom I thought about referencing dbz but decided to do slightly more realistic hair so it would blend with the realistic level of detail im going with on the face.

coming together, only a few more pieces to build out before I start to retopo.

cool character  very charismatic

@nikita666 thank you! your new entry is coming along nicely

@helian thanks! slowly adding layers to his odd little character lol

Revisiting the anatomy now that the the design of the character is pretty fleshed out. Pulled away from the chimp torso and pushed it back towards human since I'm leaning the torso back, as opposed to forward like a chimp. I think this will help the natural feel of the posture overall, and I wanted to really exaggerate the serratus as they'll be visible through the sides of the jacket. I didn't have to go super crazy sculpting the back, as it won't be visible in the final pose/render but ... I was having fun. Still blending/polish left to do throughout, how much blending I'll actually end up doing between forms I'm not sure.. I kind of like the more stylized super cut look. The deadline is actually starting to creep up though, so I'm going to do my best to wrap all anatomy later today and start retopo tomorrow.

ok now all the sculpted assets are in... im finally back to modeling/topo/uvs and possibly some marvelous for the leather sleeve he'll have on one arm and his pants.

Looking so good man! The hair you made really works great on his face! I dig this design really impressive Bro!

thanks man! the hair was interesting to do, now it's just cutting it down to a "reasonable polycount" first time doing it this way, so im curious how it will turn out once in marmoset

this looks awesome! such a good progress, man.

@stefanwacker thank you!

doing the oh so fun job of retopo currently. all the time consuming pieces are finished other than the feet.
gotta work some long hours these next few days
not the 100% final topo, I'll cut a ton of the tesselation in the final stages, some of these are just for baking/subd

Best of luck on finishing in time. Looking forward to the final version. Keep up the good work.

Welp, I was in range of crossing the finish line, but I took a little bit too long in the retopo phase. still have detail sculpting to do and then baking/texture etc. I'm liking this character a lot though. definitely going to finish him next month once I have time. I think he'll be super cool once done. Thanks for all the cheers everyone! Even if I didn't finish, I had a blast with this Art War. It was wonderful to see everyone's characters come to life. Congrats to everyone who finished on time! There's some really amazing work

here are some last WIP renders :

Definitely finish this one. It's amazing. To bad you couldn't finish but I'm glad you still entered and had fun

Sry to hear was looking forward to the final, hope to see him again, was curious on what coloring shading style you would take with him, in my own interpretation i thought you were go towards the comic style with it, like someone else did in the challenge with the outlines as you display them here.

Agree with Malcom, finish it, will keep an eye out for it.
