I know I want to have my character riding on a shark or being pulled by sharks so I decided to sculpt this first so that I have a base to concept from.

I also wanted to test out some look dev and if I could pull off an underwater feel.

This is a marmoset render, the light effects on the skin are not a texture. I have an image plane of a waving water effect (with a dither alpha) above the shark. I also have a light shooting through the alpha to get the water effect. It does not look good in real-time, it only looks decent when rendered with a 100x sampling.

The bubbles are all geometry. I hope I can put them in the final marmoset scene viewer without the file going oversize.

( I am new to this forum, I assume you do all your updates through 'replies' and then only 'submit entry' for the final submission, correct? )

This is correct

I LOVE IT!!! and also the theme of the bubbles is incredible.

Clam Chariot Marmoset Look Dev

I will be doing the champion blockout tomorrow.

10 days later

Champion paper sketch with PS lineover. Based on a mix of crab, lobster and human anatomy.

In 3D I was able to correct the anatomy and push the design further.

Champion positioned to fit the clam chariot.

I kind of like the naked crab warrior, however since this is a design competition I felt like I should give him some light armour.

This loose blockout is inspired by a combination of gladiator and pirate attire.
