Really cool design! Only thing that hits me and takes me out of the image is how she's holding the gun. Her right hand would be really uncomfortable to hold a gun like that and if she's just shot the gun her trigger finger is no where near the trigger. I would maybe consider bringing her right had up so she's holding the gun on the wood and have a bend in her elbow. I would also have her left hand holding the gun as it currently looks like its floating above it not in contact with the gun at all. Great dynamic pose and comp for the image otherwise and some bold colours, be great to see if develop.

this is so far, i hope you all like it

Thnak you, actully that rare position with the arms is very distinctive from the adelitas, i dont know why hahahaha, but that was a popular pose.

Interesting! I wonder what the reasoning behind that is. Images is coming along well, I do not envy the amount of cloth fold rendering your got on your plate.

Hiii guys, this is so far , at the end ill explain all my artistic inpiration inside the mexican art culture, im experimenting with using transparency in my illustration, do anyone know if it is allowed?
(is not finished yet)

Looks really cool! I'm with br00dley that she's holding the gun in a weird way, but if it's something traditional, happy to learn something new! Aside from that, her right arm is a bit longer than her left and the palm is bigger as well.
Looking forward to the finished piece

As for the trasparency - last year (or was it 2 years ago?) someone had asked and it was allowed, however there was a catch. PNGs are bigger in file size and get downscaled automatically (to less than 2048px). I don't know if the site now supports bigger file sizes, but just make sure to check the size of the uploaded images.

Thank you!! im glad yoi like it , i think the file is needed in jpg , so maybe i wont be able to use transparency , but thankyou for the support

She is La adelita Carmen G. "La eterna"
She is a mexicann woman ,nobody really knows what era she belongs to, since she has very futuristic technology, but she likes the clothes from the time of the Mexican revolution (1910), she was based on the adelitas, since they are one of the representations of strong Mexican women. Also, as part of her identity, she is body painted as a catrina ,as a representation of death and what it means in Mexican culture.
She does not consider herself a vigilante or a superhero, but she is obsessed with what she could be ... that is why she travels to emblematic moments of Mexican history not to change them, but to know what it could be in the event if history was different.

-1-the hat is inspired from "talavera" which is kind of painting.
-2-She has a catrina make-up.
-3-The weapon she carries is a modified rifle Winchester 1895 that was used in the Mexican revolution, this weapon is capable of shooting plasma "chile de arbol" bullets
She also has some molotov bombs made from famous liquids form Mexico such as tequila, Mezcal and salsa.
-4-Her clothes are a combination of adelitas clothes and regional Mexican dancers.
She also carries a engraved belt ,that let her travel in time , she just configure a date and the year appears in the center of it.
-5-Colors of the Mexican flag.

Artistic inspiration:
For this illustration, I had a very clear vision that I did not want it to look like a video game or that style of illustrations, Mexican art was my inspiration, the murals, engravings, posters, etc.
So my illustration was intended as a mural or poster (as shown in the image), like much of Mexican art, it has an explosion of colors, textures, which can be difficult to read, but the detail and the way of telling a story or representing a scene in Mexican art has a lot of movement and color.

This second image is my vision of the illustration as an old engraved poster.

This is the final illsutration in png
The explanation will be in the next post

Title: What could it be...
Author: Wlfrano G

In this illustration we can see my character the delita "La Eterna" in one of her temporary trips, in this case she traveled to the Cholula massacre that took place in 1591 where a group of Spanish conquerors attacked the indigenous Mexicans without warning. ,where they did not have help and were celebrating, for this reason "La Eterna" decided in one of his adventures to help and to know what could be of this event with her help.

I had planned to use a png file for the end, but unfortunately I could not compress my illustration so much without losing much quality and within the necessary measures of the file, a blue similar to the background of the web page acts as the back of my illustration.
(The png file is in the previous post)

Nice character and illustration! Best of luck to you for the contest

Stil think the idea with the peperoni is so cool  Maybe you could define the hat (backview) a bit more, just a little bit more contrast?
What I really like is your choice of the background colors, it makes her pop greatly^^

I almost forguet to tell you, that my illustration was also made to be be admired with some good mexican old songs, to get that strong feeling, here are some good songs to hear with my illustration, hope you like the combo

  • La mentira ,Alvaro Carrillo
  • Sabor a mi, Eyde Gorme
  • Nuestro Juramento, Julio Jaramillo
