Yeah I think it will be the best way to get a child fantasy book like fell which brings me back to should I have texture fur or simulated fur. I also hope I get faster at paiting textires lol.

Wonderful textures! Well done. Hand painted textures are challenging for me. And the shield looks nice and battered.
How would you do the specular highlights, painted on or a specular map blending with the texture?

Thanks rath I appreciate it. Most of the spec you see is painted just using the hard round brush in photoshop but I do have a slight shader gloss and reflection going on too just to help pop a little bit more.
I recently rewatched this video http://polycount.com/discussion/136891/blizzard-style-textures some great tips on painted texture painting the dude works for blizzard best guy to learn from in regards to painted textures

thanks for the vid

Now ur secret is mine, mine I say!!! MUHAHA

thanks for the kind comments everyone, i really appreciate it.
sorry for the long delay with posting but, ill spare you the pent up rant i have lol and instead ill just post my texturing WIP

Nice man! Another good reference is the DOTA2 character breakdown, they talk about their techniques and methodologies, might be a good gander, can't look at your discussion link right now so idk how extensive it is.

agreed! i reference this document all the time. Very well written

I like the hand painted style of your character! Maybe colors of his weapon can be a little more dark for best integration with the rest of the color scheme.

Thanks for the advice, great idea with the dota I'll check that out.
Guillaume- yeah thanks for that it does stand out way too much as of right now.
I also need to teak the other textures too they need to pop more.

Made this little scene fir him, a little arena made from books dvd / game cases and lego

Nicely done! Good job!
Like like the sculpted look of the fur.
Interesting idea for the environment!
Make sure to contrast the character from the background in post process.

Thanks for the feedback ratch, yeah was looking a bit too conflicting with all the saturation especially with the tones of the wooden surface

So here is my final sheets if I've read the rules correctly

Must admit while i know i wont place near the top it's fantastic to finally finish a personal project and an honor to have it viewed by so many artists on this forum and the judges.
Best of luck to everyone who enters

anyone is welcome to add me on facebook, if you so wish

The cards were a much needed final touch, I like it. It's got the eerie feel of the bad-guy toys from Toystory xD Congratz on finishing

Thanks dude glad you like it man. Hope yours is going well it looks really cool dude  in fact I'm jumping over to your thread now

Reallz like zour render, wish I knew how to do that.

Great job! Like the hairs! Really nice hand painting and good bakes!

I do feel the render is a bit dark, might consider changing the light direction so its more on the characters body?

You have to submit a sheet with the initial concept work (drawings) (size 2048 x 2048 pixels)

Also the size of the beauty render needs to be atleast 2048 x 2048 pixels (yours is 889 x 889 pixels)

Even your detail sheet needs to be larger (2048 x 2048 pixels, yours is 889 x 889)

You should divide up your submission sheets and label them as

  1. Concept Sheet

  2. Final Image

  3. Embedded Marmoset Viewer (you can use if you like!) (20 mb file size limit)
    OR
    Detail Sheet

Hey vaj thanks dude. Vray makes rendering super easy. It's hard to make something look bad with vray gi shadows and shaders.

Yeah suppose the body is a bit in shadow was trying to go for a more dynamic contrast look.
Thats rath  and Well shit lol I misinterpreted the rules I thought the render sheet had to be 2048 not the render.
Also thought that judoes who'd be looking at this would see my concept in the begging.
Well better to fail via technica lites than not being good enough hahaha. Well my goal here was to finish a project, level up a littleand make friends I think I achived that so I'm happy

There's still time! You could up res the images.
And yes indeed it was great to meet you! Thank you for all the support! I'll add you on facebook
