Hi guys,

Nice to meet you!

This forum has a lot of great talent and motivation! Happy to see this pretty good and clean website!!
Seeking to practice the 3D again, after a long time, I want to thanks the organization, this challenge is really nice to make a come back!!!

So I'm starting to share with you the concept of my Sci Fi champion.

This is the first sketches. Lot of things to be define...but I have lot of things also to "re-learn" for the sculpt!!!!

Thanks and have a good day!

Loving the almighty pig. Really strong character. Awesome job.

Hi guys,

Thanks Malcom, glad that you like it.

I didn't realise that it would be sooooo hard to get back into 3D...
I mainly work in 2D, I just realized that it's been already 6 years that I haven't practiced.

I don't know how far I can get on the polish, because there is so much things to learn and do until the deadline.

I think I can show a little progress on my piggy today.
I'm still trying to figure out where I'm going, but I found the shape and the render for the modelization that I want. Something a little bit cartoony with a hardedge.
The body is still a WIP. And I hope that I will feel more confident with the hard surfacing for the armor.

Thanks. Have a good day.

Hi,

Here's a some news!!!

Almighty Pig got some clean cloth...

Not sure that they are really clean regarding the number of poly...and I don't know if I will have enough time for a retopology...

Polygon number doesn't count for the submission right?

I'll try to place his weapon tomorrow.

Thanks.

Hi,

here a little uptade with the weapon blockin.

Just a place holder for the moment.

I think I will not be able to add all the details that I wanted on this character.

I've tried something with hard surface style, but in addition of my poor knowledge in digital scultping, a style that i'm not confortable with make me sooooo slow...

Nevermind, all the great wip that I see every hour on this forum, make me motivated and I want to work harder.

and by the way, sorry for the poor english too.

have a good evening guys.

Hi guys,
The deadline is getting close, and there are is still so much to finish...
I would like to ask you something, I would like to pose the character, with zphere and rigging on zbrush.
After this, I thought that I would paint it using polypaint. But I’m not sure if this is the right workflow.
Can I export the polypaint with the sculpt to make the .mview?
I don't even know how to make a .mview...
Can I export the character as a .mview with zbrush?
Does the poly count for the limit of 20mb on the .mview?
Need a little help for the process after the sculpt please.
With the short time that is left, there are so many things that I’ve missed.

Thank you for your help.

Have a good day.

Hey

The .mview is an exported file from the rendering software Marmoset Toolbag. This file contain your assets, textures, lights, etc. in order to create a 3D viewport through websites. I don't know if you can create and share it with the trial version of Toolbag, but for this contest you can make some additionnal renders:

-If you are not uploading your model using the Marmoset viewer,
include this sheet in your final submission. This should include both
the front and back of your character in a T-pose as well as close-ups of
interesting details and areas we can't see well with the Final Image
alone. Squeeze everything you have into this one sheet.

Workflows can be a long discussion, but you can still use Zbrush to make your final renders. Texturing with polypaint and pose with transpose master is a good point. You can setup your lights in Zbrush and make some specific renders with differents materials. By mixing your images/passes in photoshop you can have a stunning result.

In other hands, a "most common" way consist to: sculpt the HD model in zbrush/mudbox/whatever, make a retopology, unwrap the UV, bake the details from the HD model and then texturing. And finally rendering.

Thanks a lot or those information!!!

Going to take a look right now.

Edit:

Oh, I forgot to post a little update.
I finally find a way to make the straps on the pants, and think I find the good shape for his hammer fist.

Of course, He will have one fist on each hand after the polish and details.
I'm a little upset with .mview, the trial version of Marmoset Toolbag does not allow you to export, it's a pity, because I was counting on a dynamic pose for my final submission.
There has been so much great work for this challenge, and even if I haven't had too much time to sleep, the entries here motivate me so much!!!
Have a good day!
