Wow this is amazing. I'm really digging her body shape, it's pretty unique and I don't think I've really seen anything quite like it before when it comes to a hag/witch character. Really looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

@benzychan thank you so much man. i definitely try to stay out of the main trends. I usually like weird stuff and i'm glad you like her ! This said, if you haven't, go have a look at The Witcher III bestiary, which is very rich and deeply inspiring !

Tried to make some clothes blockouts tonight, and brought 'em into modo. Still very rough at this stage, but at least it gives me some ideas to make them properly.

this old lady looks great, the cloths with her very well!

@grigouips sorry I'm late back to the thread. No worries man! Call it counter productive to my chances of winning (haha :sweat_smile:), but there's an interview somewhere on the interwebz with the artists that did the goblin king in the recent-ish hobbit movies, where they talk about the reference they used to make him repulsive (and how consequently "iron" their stomachs got form it haha). It may help give you ideas for high quality reference and implementation. Hope that helps :smile:

Also I think her clothes atm covers too much of her strange form, unless you pose her really hunchback-like

And another paintover for tonight. Wanted to see if the silhouette still respects the concept... @aveon it looks like you are right... she looks too "normal" at the moment, which annoys me a bit. I'll see how i can fix this ! Thanx for the goblin king ! Totally forgot this one ! Gonna check this out again ! Cheers !

Crepy as hell. Thanks for this, i have to go to bed now :cold_sweat:

very sweet.
you could add some longer nails .. and brake the fingers a little bit with arthritis ..

Wow! Great work. Love the sculpt details, but, overall silhouette is a little bit boring. She now has big and small shapes, but lacks medium elements. I would add some details to her clothing, may be some huge amulets/sculls, or energetic effects, or poaches on the belt. Just something to make her different, not ordinary.

Thanks guys, so much.
@maxloegler i will ! :wink:
@acap yeah man i have to figure it out. Not sure about the clothing yet, really want to keep her silhouette disturbing. And for the details, yes, i totally agree. This is in the plan :smile:

Finished head retopo and UVs (modo tools are really awesome!) so i quickly baked a normal map and played a bit into marmoset.

is it just me or are there baked polys visible on top of the head?

Well, that was a good sunday ! Didn't move from my computer :smiley:
@maxloegler many thanks man - let's make fantasy win !
@zinc PBR Powa bro :beers:
@independhans Hope so ! Thank you so much !
@jeebs no it's not you, neither bake polys. It's just marmoset's cheap shadowmaps creating issues sometimes. I just activated HighRes shadows on the new screens and it's gone (almost completely).

Had the total day free, so i spent it on mari and textured the head. Was wondering about final look so i did render tests in marmoset and modo. Same maps, but different lighting and setup. Quite happy with the result, i am now thinking i should remove the hood, and let the head more visible, with very few white hair...

And one more for today ! Redesign paintover with the current body and textured head. I feel less lost now, like her much more. I have to think to some way to do the black smoke surrounding her, without it , it will be meaningless.

Details are looking great, can't wait to see more.

Good job at tackling the silhouette problem, those yellow cysts on her head are freaking disgusting...love it hahaha.
