Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations.To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color.The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character.My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell.You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs.This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Poses are from refs but I look at refs for a while and then try to do it myself and look it up if needed. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I love how you simplyfy the muscles under her skin. I'm still guilty of wanting to draw every muscle, but I think I got to so some of these studies you did, too.
I lower abdomen of the second green girl to the left seems a bit too thick in my opinion. Other than that it's really awesome! Great work on the hands, too!

Hi friends!! Sorry in these weeks I am not super productive, I don't know why, I feel more bored maybe.
I think it's also because I talked about this art school to my family for the first time (after, 3 months almost ) and I feel more stressed for failing, for this reason I talked about it just with my closest friends, and you guys hahah. My family is not so happy for this art life that I would like to have.
Well let's change argument I wanted to take part to a challenge done by an italian youtuber richardhtt (I don't want to rush into our translucent skin challenge and doing it too fast and bad ).
The goal is to draw in your personal style his drawing, so I tried to figure out a different pose to make it more interesting (super loosely, super ugly ).
I had difficulties with references, I liked the poses but they was from other artist drawings and I didn't like the anatomy.
So I decided to do a nude figure drawing study! It was ages since my last one hahah
I would like to polish it more, to render it better (I don't super like how I shaded it, the brush strokes are not super clean and the values also).
I think that I will work more on it tomorrow, do you have something to point out? It's always helpful hahah when you are looking at the same thing for too much time the errors are not so visible
Maybe I could use her for the challenge, I don't know hahah but I should definitely cover her boobs in some way Let me know what do you think.

Ohh! I really like how this figure drawing exercise turned out! That's awesome progress! You could totally re-purpose it for your mermaid character for translucent skin (just add the tail!)
I really like these blue shadows, I would just make them a bit darker and the skin in light more warm for a nice contrast!
Transluscent wolf's legs look really cool but I am not sure about the covering the breasts with the tail, it looks like overly-attached wolf xD I would just make second wolf with more attack stance, lower his head to cover breasts

I like the changes you showed during the LiveStream. The girl looks much more alive with the warmer colors applied.
I had trouble to understand what she had in front of her breasts, though. It doesn't read well that the tail of the left wolf covers it, in my opinion. Maybe placing him a bit closer to the girl with his front paw covering her wrist? If his paw overlaps, maybe it's easier to understand that his tail covers her breast as well.
Other than that, it's really awesome!

They're both look so good! Though I prefer the 1st one since its more natural and calming in the eyes for me. It maybe a little thing and I'm not really sure with this since I don't do portrait often but I feel like the top of her upper lip's way too soft.

Great portrait! Very baldn't! I think the color vibrancy should depend on what background you want to have and what mood. First one looks very natural and relaxed, second one almost calls for a crazy splash of color somewhere else.

Very nice portrait Chiara! I like 1st one better, it goes better with white background, looks like it is very bright and the desaturated colors suits this mood better, one thing you could improve a bit is a shading on the lips, I think the face shows cleary it is lit from the bottom and lips look like lit from the front

Today I've done another figure drawing with some clothes on. I wanted to do also the tattoo but I think that I will do it another time, too many hours on it today
That's not 100% accurate but I am pretty happy with it, tell me what do you think. One thing that I pretty hate is the outline that It's pretty bad, I used the wrong brush at the beginning I'll fix it I promise
I also didn't have the courage to do the lace on her panties hahah do you have any advice on how to do that? Maybe the only thing is just, watch and do it
Lots of nfsw from Chiara lately xD for panties just make a mask on the panties layer and erase on the mask where the "holes" in lace are, in normal life there is skin so no reason to do it differently I hope you have panties on the other layer than body otherwise you just need to paint the skin in the holes which is much harder
for the t-shirt I suggest you do paint some folds with selection, because it came out a bit blurry
everything else is top-notch :3

@pitrek121 I had to search what nfsw meant and I laughed so much ahahah you're right And I definitely try your advice for her panties and the lazo tool, I should be use it more.
And @ivancatamora15 I am using just the soft round brush in the Marc starter brush pack, for this whole piece and the portrait one. He usually say that this is an awesome brush and I have to say that he's right Usually I use also the textured soft brush in the advanced set, the two are really good.
Very nice volumes and folds! Are you planning to add the tattoo as well?
As for panties, I'd use one of Marc's rough or charcoal brushes to give the illusion of uneven threads. Same for the treads sticking out from her top.
Ow. Sadly I'm using CSP and have no idea how to concert them into CSP Brushes. ;-;
tattoo added, what do you think? I didn't put a lot of black elements because I thought that it was too intense and with my brush strokes it could have been too detailed, what do you think?

For me today was a but tragic hahah do you have that days when everything that you draw just, sucks? Maybe is due to the fact that today was super rainy and I'm a bit metereopatic I don't know hahah
I decided to follow the study schedule but I failed, a lot as lots of mondays during this art school when I try to do new things hahah

Another day, another "shitty" day hahah I think that the art schedule is too advanced for me, maybe I need to focus more one single thing for a period instead of doing every sort of study in one week, but at least I tried hahah
Here is an azaro head and a try to replicate a studio ghibli environment, pretty bad but we could get better I need to find a tutorial online hahah
You have really great eye for colors Chiara, that bounce light on the tree looks awesome, but you use only soft brush, I will kil you I think with more hard eges it would look like from the movie!
Chiara I agree with Peter, it's nice to do the overall paint with a soft brush, but at some point the painting needs some crisp details. It's ok if you don't like some sharp edges, those could always be smudged with a blend brush.
I really love this environment. And please be gentle with yourself. I know days can seem shitty and hard, I feel them too. But take the work at the pace you need to. I took the schedule Marc built and altered it a bit.... 
Days like Mon & Wed. where it says gesture and anatomy. that can mean the human form or an environment. Both have a gesture and an anatomy to build them properly. And then after first hour I make sure to do at least 3 of the blocks from each day. And I get to fill them in however I like, and I know that all the work means progress. Having it freeform has allowed me to create what I like but still move through the terms at a good pace. I give myself the room to grow, and not force myself down a path.
There are some days were I do all classes all the blocks. Others where I do all personal all day. each Hour I complete I fill in what I did, and then change the color to bright blue.
here is a completed week.
this way I can track my progress and really feel good about what I am doing. And as long as I can fill in the color on 3 or more blocks a day I know I am moving forward at a good pace.

Ohh @ghostmonst3r this is a very good time table!! Even If usually I don't work so much on my personal art, actually it depends if I have a specific project or not. like some weeks I just focus on a project 7 days on 7 hahah but now I don't feel so, good now in terms of be satisfied with my art.
I should maybe do something like you've done, and also think what to do because I've finished to watch all the class lessons and I'm a bit lost right now probably I will restart to follow the important topics and going into deep.

So today a bit of anatomy. Some fast sketchy ones and then 2h hours of hands and feets, never done anything like this before hahaha it was actually really funny
And then I tried to study the works of "Sakimi Chan" that I've found on the cubebrush's tutorials. Maybe her girls are too hot for me but I love how she renders them. What turned out was not super good (like her face is... no comment hahah) maybe I will buy one of her tutorials one day.
