- Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?in24.6k
- Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with youin1.5k

- Thank you @daceronine! If I remember I save in google cloud, I will have to stick a note to do it more often. Lamp is from life. Poses are from refs but I look at refs for a while and then try to do it myself and look it up if needed. Outfits and rest is from imagination Something went wrong while installing system so we will have to wipe everything again... pc works but something is wrong. We will wait till internet is done and I will save everything on cloud this time Threads came out in eu. It's been 3 days and I had more engagement than after half a year on instagram. It feels really nice I hope it stays this way A portrait of old dude. It's the same character I posted a while ago. Inspired by Bayard Wu work. At first I thought of him as a bear but I named him Fenrir and I think wolf suits him better. Eye gave me a bit of hard time but I think it is fine now. I focused on face and forgot about area below. The way I draw hair clashes with greying hair. I had the same problem while doing Lohse's white hair. Does it looks like it is greying here? I love how desaturated red looks blue there. I keep lying to myself that I will use different color scheme but It all comes down to this blue and yellowish one it is just flipped this time Have a great day!in49.6k

I'm back! August has been a pretty tough month for me, I had to take a lot of breaks to take care of my health, but I'm totally fine now, so I'll be able to post weekly again!
I continued working with term 4, so here's my work for the last three weeks!
Muscles are still hard to understand, but I'm learning a lot with these assignments!
I tried making different expressions, but I think I need to practice more.
I tried my best to mimic the colors in those three illustrations, but it was a lot harder with the last one because it is very detailed.
I don't usually draw feet, but while doing these assignments I thought that maybe it is a little easier than I expected, I just need to practice more.
And I finally finished drawing the muscles on the skeleton bodies! I think it looks pretty good, but I had to use a lot of references because I was getting really confused lol
And that's it! I'll be back next week to finish term 4! (=^ ◡ ^=)
Oh wow you've been busy! That's a lot of good work!
Your style for them faces is really cute.
I'll try to refrain myself from making any hand puns, but both hands and feet are really on point! (huh.. is that a pun? I'm not sure)
Muscles can be pretty tough, but you seem to have a good handle on most of their location and structure. Just knowing they're there and how they wrap is a huge boon for your arts.
The Traps on the back of the final piece seems to have a different right and left side, which makes it look a little weird, but otherwise most look pretty good.
Keep it up! you're doing great here!

Hello! For some reason I thought I had already posted the last assignments of term 4 last week, but apparently I forgot (o_O)
So here they are!
I'm still having a hard time drawing the muscles, but I guess that's something I'll get used to if I keep drawing and trying, so I'll keep trying my best and getting used to doing new things.
I also wanted to try to make a muscular female body and give her my aunt's hair and glasses. I think it looks a little silly but I tried ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ ) I will continue learning how to make different body types, but for now it is a little complicated.
I took last week to finish some work that I hadn't been able to do last month, but I've already started working on next week's assignments and I'm really excited to start learning about character design, and it's a good excuse to draw several characters that I have in mind as well!
I won't forget to post next week, I swear (๑•̀ᗝ•́)૭
Yo! good progress with anatomy. Specifically for the male one I did a few corrections from what I also learned so far:
Mainly:
1) Bicep goes under the where the pectoral attaches (close to where the deltoid ends).
2) Sartorius wraps around the leg and down at the side/under the knee.
3) Gastrocnemius form on the back.
4) Other small adjustments to some arm and legs.
Looking forward to those character designs!
Hello! It's finally time for me to start with term 5!
For this first week I had to start a reference folder. Honestly, I had already created a Pinterest board to save my references quite a few years ago, but because I saved too many images I felt that it was no longer useful, so I created new folders to keep everything more organized.
I'm actually curious to know where everyone has their reference folder, is there another website where you can organize your images better? or does everyone just have it as a normal folder on their device? I really want to know!
But all week I focused on one thing, and that was designing 3 of my original characters!
I really put a lot of effort into designing them, I looked at a lot of clothing references as it's something I'm not so good at, but I'm quite proud of how they turned out! ദ്ദി(ᵔᗜᵔ)
Starting with my first character!
His name is Solé! I've had his concept in my head for like two years now, and I had never been able to do justice to his design, at least until now.
He's supposed to be a powerful and eccentric wizard, I've always imagined him with an extravagant and shiny design, but I didn't want to add so many jewels since I still don't know how I would balance all that.
My main reference were the colors and feathers of the peacock, but I didn't put much detail into his cape because I might faint if I tried, and they're really hard to draw O.O
I tried using the grayscale technique and it was honestly a lot of fun, I still don't know how to use the gradient map so the colors are not exactly what I wanted, but they are close.
My second character is called Odel, and he was the hardest of the three to draw.
Her backstory is complicated and involves a lot of time travel, but he's primarily a spirit. I've thought of a ton of designs for him depending on where he is in the story, but I decided to draw the first design I had in mind for him. In fact, at the bottom right I put a drawing from two years ago when I had initially created him, but that design never convinced me and I spent all this time thinking about how to improve it.
When I was little, my family had a doll that we used as a decoration for Christmas, and when I asked my mom what it was, she told me it was a harlequin. I always thought it was quite pretty, it was a completely white doll, and when I thought about the design for this character the first thing I remembered was that doll, so I wanted him to look like one.
Although in the end I decided to go more towards a design similar to that of a pierrot clown, it just suits him better.
The ghost character that I used as a reference also inspired me a lot to create him, since it was part of one of my favorite games as a child. I also used other references like the clown costumes and capes that you can find in the game Sky.
My third character is called Olivia! I was going to draw a different character, but in the end I forgot and chose her because she had similar vibes lol
I actually created her last year, I was trying to make a lot of characters for a project so I didn't really have much time and ended up not putting much effort into their drawing which you can see on the bottom right. But I really liked the idea so I wanted to actually try this time.
She doesn't have a backstory yet, but I imagined she might work in a haunted house, or maybe be a demon or vampire who owns a big haunted mansion. I think I wanted her to be like a dark angel in my first drawing, but the demon wings looked amazing so I'm not going back to that idea.
Her umbrella is pretty much the same, but I wanted to try making a new dress for her. I'm still a little troubled about her puffy sleeves, I like the idea but I think I need more practice to make it look better. The skirt is really not the best, I was overwhelmed by the variety of dresses I kept looking at, but it's something that I might be able to redesign later. But I don't think she'll change her hair, it's definitely my favorite part.
Honestly, drawing these three characters gave me a huge confidence boost and now I feel like I can draw anything I set my mind to, maybe I'll finally be able to draw the thousand characters that I haven't taken out of the basement ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ
I'll be back next week with the next assignments!
I've been working on building a physical reference library. I'm increasingly distrustful of all online platforms and there's no guarantee that a tool I use today will exist tomorrow or will continue to be user friendly and not some advertising laden mess. Of course, there's probably going to be stuff that isn't in my library, especially right now, because it's only like four big hardcover books. I also don't trust general searches because the content could be AI generated and totally inaccurate.
I'm working on upping my photo skills to take my own reference photos. From what I am seeing, this is helping with my understanding of lighting too.
Those character designs are pretty cool! Sole is definetly my favorite. He has a very unique style and fashion for a mage. Rendering for all 3 is really great though, love how you combine different aspects from your references to create your vision.
As for references, I do have a few files saved into a folder in my disk drive, and a folder specifically for mangawork references. But that's it. I tend to keep things very simple, and only look up especifically what I need for the specific work I'm doing. Usually online, but I can also take photos to get the references I need (angles, poses, or otherwise).
Hello again! It's time for week 2!
Starting from the daily gesture drawing practice!
For this week I had to do some sculpting and I felt like I was losing my mind lol.
This time I used Blender, so I had to learn how to use a program completely from scratch again. But at least this time it wasn't so difficult, I watched a short video and with that I was able to understand the general tools.
That being said, I still went through a lot of pain trying to get these things to look good.
I tried to make a foot and honestly I think it turned out pretty good.
I think maybe the pinky toe was a little big, but there are many different types of feet in the world so I'm not going to stress about it.
The nails were the hardest part, I wasn't really sure how to do them so I just did the best I could.
I don't even want to talk about his hand.
I'm sure there must be a better way to do them, but I didn't know the program very well and wanted to try to do it myself without watching any tutorials.
I promise not to be so stubborn next time (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
I wanted to try to make an alien with hair, that's all.
I think you can understand my vision, although it is not completely well done.
I still have the same problem that what I do looks very low quality, I think there might be something I need to configure, but I'll look into that another time.
Another thing I did this week was trying to write little a story I had in mind. I know there will be a video on storytelling next term, but I just wanted to try to do something fun, and since developing stories is quite difficult for me I thought it would be good practice.
But honestly I'm not having much fun lol I didn't know writing could be so complicated.
I like to read a lot of fanfics, manga, and graphic novels, so I wanted to try to put a story together because I feel like I don't have the ability to draw something like that yet.
But now I think drawing might be the easier route. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)
I don't think that story will ever see the light of day, but I'm learning a thing or two about how to develop a story and not die in the process.
I'll try to come back next week, I think I'm starting to get a cold, but if it's not too serious I'll keep working on the assignments ( ◡̀_◡́)ᕤ
All that work in blender is pretty impressive. You clearly have a good notion for 3D space and anatomy. I never really got much into 3D, but it's always interesting to see how others go at it.
Wirtting, like any other skill, is all about practice, study and persistance. The more you do it, the easier it gets. The more technical stuff you learn, the better the work. I'm not sure I'd call drawing easier, but it might simply mean you have a preference for it. Which is perfectly fine.
Personally I enjoy both, and the blend and art there is in storytelling through comics and manga, which is quite challenging, but I enjoy it quite a bit, so it's never felt like a burden.
Kind of like human anatomy when drawing. It is extremly complicated, but I personally enjoy it a lot, even if it feels like I keep making mistakes.
Looking forward to more progress!
