  • Thank you! I finally cleaned that up. Meanwhile started 3 more ..I have a habit of taking too long to finish a piece, then I lose interest in it and just start something else. I found 8 from recently i started and abandoned, that are decent enough to not delete, but not finished. There’s also been a number of drawings I felt I “outgrew” - became better before I finished them, and it would be easier to start from scratch than fix them. Anyone else thinking that?
  • Lady Death Fanart Collectible: Part 6 Polypaint and base Hi, it’s time to share with you another part of the process to create this fanart piece. Polypaint As this is my first collectible fanart I didn’t have previous experience with polypaint so I tried my best and played a bit with it.I wanted to give a ghostly and eerie look to Lady Death, she is beautiful and deadly, but at the end of the day she is a woman that died and was reborn at hell as an avenging spirit, that’s why I gave her skin tone a bluish very cold tone.As you will see I gave myself some creative freedom to deviate from the traditional color scheme that this characater has in comics and illustrations. To add a bit of sensuality by painting some freckles on the face and the chest. The dark nature of this character was the perfect excuse to gave her a kind of goth make up, very dark shadows around the eyes, blue lips and fingernails. I know that the original character includes sexy red lips but I wanted this girl to have a sexy but at the same time creepy look, that’s why we can see some thin veins emanating from her eyes. The biggest chromatic change I did for this character is at the hair. Lady Death has a characteristic white weavy hair but in my fanart I decided to gave her a very saturated blue color. The reason behind this wasn’t only an aesthetic choice. I want that the face area strongly pulls the attention of the viewer so this area needed a stronger contrast. Another reason is that I want her to have a more modern look, as I mentioned before, I’m strongly attracted to women with goth/punk look. I gave myself half an hour or more to analyse the work of experienced sculptors that create collectibles and I discovered that the use of darker values on the skin is often applied to create a greater sense of volume and three-dimensionality. I found that areas with heavy ambient occlusion are the perfect places to paint with darker colors in order to increase the separation between different forms. Even though she has a bluish skin tone, I used a bit of warmer hues in areas that, in real life, tend to go towards red and pink, this is very obvious in the nose, cheeks, and knuckles. Thinking with a logical mind it’s completely absurd to have warmer tones on the body of a zombie like creature but I didn’t want to limit myself by using only blue tones, it looks boring and artificial. In real life these colors are created by blood vessels in areas where the skin is very thin. ** Scythe **for her weapon I applied a cool gray with some warmer variations, this color scheme is influenced by the work of H.R giger. Base I’d like to talk about the design for the base which, to be honest, I forgot to develop along with the character. My main idea with the base is to show that Lady Death inhabits a very sterile and arid land, at the end of the day she is at hell. You can see a that she walks over dirt and rocks, a sign that she’s surrounded by death and loneliness. As part of the landscape we can see some bones and skulls to reinforce the idea of lack of living creatures, yet we can see three hands that try to reach her legs. This hands represent that all creatures are subordinated to her power and seek an evil blessing with a simple touch of the princess of the damned.1- The hand with skin burns represents the souls of those who are newcomers to hell, tortured souls that suffer for the sins comitted on earth.2- The hand with greenish rotten skin and pustules is the reminder of the decay that has infected the souls of those who have been trapped and have forgotten their humanity3- Last but not least, the hand of a demon shows that even dark creatures and entities bow before her presence. The cherry on the top, at least in my vision, are the simese twins that emerge from the ground, this malevolent creatures remind us that in hell there’s only perversion and any trace of innocence is lost. Thanks for reading till this pointI’m really happy to be very close to finish this creative journey, last but not least it’s mandatory to talk about splitting the sculpture in several pieces to be printed, this will be my last entry before showing the final rendered images. See yaMay Zbrush be with you

OOF Internet is life.. rip

these studies are really nice tho

oooof, sorry to hear that, no internet can be rough, though as you said, you still have your phone to keep in touch. It's something.

Those are good studies. I've also had to check feet and legs recently for some drawings for some frames, and they can be pretty rough to get at first, but as other's said, once you get the basic construction nailed down, it's usually not that bad. It feels like there's more leeway for proportions compared to arms and hands (unless they're the main focus).

Nice work on the feet studies.
Good luck on the internet.

Thank you guys! Feet aren't that bad once you get the basics. More focus is usually on head and hands

Not having internet wasn't that bad. My pc suddenly went off and I couldn't get it on. My knowledge ended when I entered bios so I needed help. At least my brother made it work so I could save some stuff but CSP said no you won't get that files (i got some of it later). I needed new drive so everything is wiped out and I had to set up everything on internet from phone which randomly disconnects... Well I have lots of space so that's a good thing I guess

I did a study of a lamp with pencils. The glass thing doesn't look good and I probably was too close to it. It looks much different in my sketchbook.

Some warm up sketches and thumbnails while I search for brushes as I didn't save Clip files. It was just way too big

Have a good day!

These are really nice works and exercices! I think I recognize that texture over the sketch on the right, definetly from CSP.

I also fear losing my files and work, I have most of it in 2 google cloud accounts, but the size quickly starts to add up. I'm still considering buying a dropbox suscription, but I struggle to justify the cost with so much local space. I wanted to setup a hard drive as a mirror, but then my pc doesn't have any remaining space inside.

I'll say, when CSP complained of one corrupt file I had, google cloud did have my back and I was able to restore a working file from an hour earlier.

Curious, are the lamp seems to be from a reference, for the other sketches are from memory? hard to tell. Even as just sketches the basic lights in white make them look really pretty.

Thank you @daceronine! If I remember I save in google cloud, I will have to stick a note to do it more often. Lamp is from life. Poses are from refs but I look at refs for a while and then try to do it myself and look it up if needed. Outfits and rest is from imagination

Have a great day!

I like how refined the portrait is.
The color scheme looks pretty good with the shades of brown.
You're doing very well on the facial features, and I think the graying hair works with the details on the beard. Good luck with the storage.

Thank you @gregorya and @Sthingz!

I started working on another Baldurs Gate fanart - Aylin. I wanted to make sure if the anatomy is correct before moving on. I am not sure about sword holding arm the sword. Boobs will be covered so I don't think to much about it

Have a good day and happy holidays!

It looks pretty good so far. If you're not sure about the sword, you can move the sword a little closer to the bottom left for a little foreshortening.
Maybe something like this:

Happy holidays to you as well.

Thank you! It looks nice I will move things around and make better foreshortening

It's already been a week huh. Spent a lot of time with family during christmas and I didn't do much art. My pc still does weird things but internet guy came a week earlier so I finally have internet

I can go back to art. Finished sketch and did quick greyscale. I hope the sword foreshortening looks good now. (I need to move the blade) I used 3d models for it. I am slowly hating that armor, shoulder piece confuses me. I planned to go with helmet but I can't cover her hair so I might go with both.

Composition wise I try to use 30/70 rule for most. From what I heard that one is enough and its easy to apply. I always used it but now I try to think more while doing so

Have a good day!

yoooooo that lighting looks AMAZING!! it looks so epic!!

So nice, she may break Lorroakan with her beauty

Thank you @mitsuki-youko, @gregorya and @alejorey.1995!

Yeah!

Colors! I didn't want her wings to be just white with blueish glow. So I made this pretty combination. And I turned the shoulder piece it is fine I think but the angle and foreshortening gives me a headache. And I forgot about one finger...

The good thing armor is getting easier to do I have a better insight how it overlaps, bends etc.

Have a great day and Happy New Year! May it be a great one!

Its lookiing good! Those wings look really impressive, like they go from fire to dark.
I do feel the sword could be foreshortened a bit more though.

Maybe something like this? the angle is different but the idea is there

here's a messy sketch of what comes to mind

Foreshortening in general can be tough.
