I chickened out and deleted my comment earlier, but as people are querying the rules may I ask for some clarification on how Firathion's illustration qualified?

From faq's:
Q: Does the final illustration for 2D have to be full body?
A: Yes, you should aim to show the character in the final illustration from head to toes - all in all, roughly at least 80% of the character should be visible. Anything less than 80% will be penalized.

I'ts an incredible piece of art that I could never dream of accomplishing myself, but I can only see the upper half of the character and both arms are hidden by bats.

Please don't hate me Firathion! I really loved the piece.

Hi @moirae. I'm pretty sure that @Firathion can defend himself (as well as judges can defend their choices), but since I was just passing by... If I would be him I would say that this character don't have a toes (as seen on a Concept Sheet). In fact bottom half of his body is a kind of shape-changing mist and there is a lot of that mist in the final image. So... yeah - if I would be him, I would defend myself like this .

That's a good point @jonatan-moonchild I guess anatomy can be more fluid in non human demons (perhaps literally in this case) and hard to measure.
I just wanted to see more of the character in action!

Hey @moirae.
Sorry any inconvinience or frustration this may have caused.

It's exactly as @jonatan-moonchild pointed out. The lower half of my character's body is that shape-changing mist/smoke. So you pretty much see all of him in the picture except part of his hands.

I definately see your point tho. I needed to work on the composition more in order to better highlight the character.

Hi all, now that the finalists have all been announced comes the increasingly difficult task of narrowing them down to 10 per category for the second round (of 3) of judging.

We're expecting the second round to take around 2 weeks.

We know this can seem excruciatingly long for the current finalists awaiting the results but to help with the wait, please keep an eye on the Cubebrush blog for a wave of new tutorials and process walkthrough articles! There will be loads of eye-candy to indulge yourself with while the judges are hard at work!
