2D Submission Requirements

One Entry per person max.

Concept Sheet

• Dimensions: 2048x2048 pixels

• Show the front and back of your final design along with any other important sketches you did before moving on to the final illustration. Squeeze everything onto this one sheet.

Final Illustration

• Dimensions: at least 2048 pixels in height or width, format of your choice

• This is your final illustration depicting your champion in all its glory. You should not use any photos or 3D for this final image. Supporting characters/creatures are allowed.

Hello! this is awesome! just one question, since the brief is vague enough ( ) Can we go ahead and add to the lore/story, like give the characters and the story more personality? pursue developing motives for each faction and protagonize/antagonize any of them? thanks.

Hi there, quick question- for the 2D entries, do they have to be done digitally or will traditional entries be accepted as well? I tried looking for the answer and couldn't find it. Wishing everyone all of the luck!

You have to submit digital images with your submission but you can do a portion, if not most of it with traditional media. No problem.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, I did gather that the images posted had to be digital images but wasn't totally clear if I could submit for example, a scanned piece done in water color or something similar to that.

Hey just a random small comment, it is kind of looking like the submission requirements for the 2d and 3d submissions might be flipped. I see the 2d section commenting about showing the front and back of the final design, while 3d talks about many sketches and images. This may of course also just be an issue with my computer screwing with things because of script stopper.

Or perhaps you guys are looking for some really detailed concept sheets for the 2d submissions!

You can edit any post, so just edit your first post in your topic and upload your 2 final pieces, the final illustration and the concept sheet, with back and front view and any other important design. The 2 final pieces need to follow the dimensional requirements.

I've got some questions:
1. Can you base your characters off mythological figures/gods? Or do they have to be completely original?
2. What's the maximum canvas size?

1. You can use them as reference but it wouldn't be a character design if you're going to copy an existing character. That would be considered > fan art < It has to be an original character.

2. For now there's no limit on maximum canvas size but don't go crazy with the size. Keep in mind that it has to be uploaded on the forums.

I like to use photos that I take myself to wrap over my characters with the warp tool. It's Matte painting. Is this a problem since you said no photos? I mean I can just take the picture and draw it over. But at that point either would create the same result. An example is here http://jago1996.com/comic/an-overturned-jeep/
I drew all the objects and things in the scene. Then I mixed textured brushes and manipulated imagery to make a unique feel.

This seems like a very fun challenge, i would love to (win that cintiq xD ) participate but my only drawing experience so far is sketching boxes... i don't think that's going to get me far in the competition. Good luck to anyone who submits!
