This is truly an ART WAR. You weren't kidding when you said it'd be nuts, @marc !
Super pumped. Looking forward to what you'll all come up with..!

I will be entering the 3D side for this contest and had a quick question for the final character. Can the Final 3D mesh be 3D print friendly? Meaning no UV or textures or does it have to aim more towards film and game models? Thanks for your time.

Kurt

Hey! Pulled up the specifications from the 3D description for you. You can present your model in whichever manner you prefer! As long as the judges are able to see your final character and the progress/concept behind it, you're good to go! Good luck.
-
Dimensions: at least 2048x2048 pixels - format of your choice
This is THE image to display your character in all its glory. The character has to be 100% 3D, but the background can be whatever you prefer.
Embedded Marmoset Viewer

Use our new Marmoset embedded viewer to show off your character - this will be used for judging. The .mview file has a 20mb size limit.
OR

Detail Sheet

Dimensions: 2048x2048 pixels
-If you are not uploading your model using the Marmoset viewer, include this sheet in your final submission. This should include both the front and back of your character in a T-pose as well as close-ups of interesting details and areas we can't see well with the Final Image alone. Squeeze everything you have into this one sheet.

So excited for this @marc !! I havent participated in a contest since Retrogasm last year :stuck_out_tongue:

Could you post a list of the judges names? I recognize most of you from the pictures, but there's a few I'm not familiar with.

Read the 3D Submission Requirements should be all there - the UVs are not part of the final submission hence you can do whatever you want. Your final model has to have textures however, be posed and be in its environment (that last part can be 2D)

What a way to jumpstart the new forum site! This is going to be fun.
Team Fantasy!

This is indeed a great thing to end the year. Thanks to @marc and the team
I want to take part in the 3D Art War but I'm not good with concepts can I use Blizzard's WOW character concept for my inspiration.
Good Luck to all the entries

Cheers! The sketch sheet is part of the submission just as much as the final image so it has to be yours!

Where is the link to apply?
This is an amassing opportunity for me and others artist that want to show his talent and creativity.

And thanks Mark for belive on us the new artist.

Greetings everyone, I have a question regarding 2D final illustration, not sure if any one has already asked this. it stated in the rules that :

" This is your final illustration depicting your champion in all its glory. You should not use any photos or 3D for this final image. Supporting characters/creatures are allowed."

I understand that the final piece need to be an illustration, what I wanted to know is, can I use 3D and photo textures during the production process, and paint over them, but the final piece will be an illustration.

Just wanted to be sure about this, thanks ~

Oh wow. This'll be a struggle for someone (me) who sees Sci-Fi and Fantasy as the same genre at different historical points in time... :joy:

I look forward to it though. This sounds like fun so i plan on entering. Now to brainstorm.

Awesome contest for the end of the year , it's like a christmas gift before the date ! thanks to the cubebrush team.

My question is : If i want to participate to both challenges (2D & 3D), do I have to make two separate concepts ? Or can i develop only one from the beginning to the end in 2D then in 3D ?

This will be a stunning Contest. Thank you @marc for the awesome Community opportunity.

dose this mean we can enter both 2d and 3d categories or just 1 total??

I believed this question is already anwsered on the thread. (if I am correct) you can enter once in 2D and once in 3D thats it.

Hey, I have a question. Does it have to be strictly either one of the genre only? Is it okay to have a mix of sci-fi and fantasy?

This is an awesome way to end the year!

I have some ideas but I might bump into some rules that won't allow for it.
I want to enter the 3D contest but with a story, illustrating more than one character however still within bounds of having a champion and a war between the two styles. So does it have to be 1 character?
And does it have to be game models with UV's and normals etc? I've seen a quick answer to this question but it was still not 100% clear to me, my apologies...

Look forward to seeing some works!
