Hello friends,

Today was the day to help my wife with her project, so I have one more character exploration for her book project.

This is the fourth and last round of exploration study for one of the characters of the book. From here on we will look back and select the things we like the most in all studies and put them all together

Which one do you like best so far?

I love the part of the week when you show us your progress with the book This new version looks awesome, I think that I wouln't be surprised to see him on a book in a library hahah
The only think that I could say is to be careful with red tones, it attracts so much attention and you put it far away from the focal point (face). But is the only think that I could say, this is great hahaha

Heyooo,

Finished the 4 point perspective on the character. Tough stuff!

Tried to play around with shading at the end there, but clearly didn't work that well 😅

But it's alright. I got the concept for this, now finally time to move to ANATOMY!

I really struggled with this topic also because I didn't find any reference for a character with this point perspective, but you nailed it!
It's so absurd that you didn't have studied anatomy yet, this is really accurate!!

Yeah, I also couldn't really find anything, so I tried to use Marc's piece as a reference as much as I could. Still think it turned out a bit weird, but glad you liked it!

And about anatomy: I had other courses before, but I'm REALLY rusty when it comes to it, so I'm excited to check out Marc's take on this and have it fresh in my mind.

Will post more stuff as soon as I have them.

Oh GEEZ! you killed that assignment, I just posted mine and it looks like poop compared to yours. Although I'm glad you said you'd taken anatomy courses before or I might have just cried...lol j/k. I realize now why your character breakdowns were so accurate. really great work. If you could look at mine and give me some pointers that'd be great. If you have time

Looks good, your stuff is really coming on man. Just one thing on the 4 point drawing, dont push the feet so far back into the tube, remember, the ankles line up with the ears. if you push the feet back further you've created bendy shins, and also extreme foreshortening. Id do a bit of a Michelangelo and increase the size of the head slightly as well for better aesthetics as he did with the David sculpture.

Hello friends!

And today I finally began: ANATOMY! HEADS! HEADS EVERYWHERE!

Damn, I really need to practice drawing circles more. I really liked the exercises tho. I like how you can go about measuring everything and how those metrics connect when building things up.

Will probably repeat this a few hundred times before moving forward 🤣

no worries. quick tip for drawing circles, when drawing it with a pencil you'll probably find yourself leaving light circle marks on the paper searching for the circle and then cleaning it up with one confident stroke. Watch Proko's video on loomis, he does it too. Anyway, after noticing that, I always turn the opacity down to 10 and draw round and round until I get the circle then clean it up afterwards with 50% opacity. hope that helps man

Hey everyone,

After another weekend, my wife and I tried a "first final version" of her book character.

We basically took everything we liked from the previous explorations and tried to put together in one character. I'm happy-ish with the results (I like the character but I tried out a new brush that - in the end - I'm not sure I liked it). But overall I think that's the direction we will be going.

What do you think?

@alrooke64 you are exactly right! I usually tend to just go very light and then stroke harder as soon as I "find" the circle in the paper. That's a nice idea, will definitely try it! Thanks a lot!

Decided to already start trying out some of the recent anatomy learnings in the character breakdown studies I do. I gotta say ‒ even if it's just the head so far - It was actually super helpful!

Personally I can say that it really helps me learn while "taking a break" from the formal learning from the ArtSchool. Also an opportunity to try to apply what I've learned in the terms in a different way, while still having fun

Hello friends!

Didn't post much this week. Decided to go on a week posting schedule so I have more time to actually draw and study (and to annoy everyone a lot less 😅).

This week was basically anatomy of the nose + another character breakdown study.

As always great study session, those noses breakdown are great!! Most of all for their volumes.
