Hello all! My name's Dunkel, and I've been self-learning with digital art for the past year or so, but finally got serious and decided to get this program. I'll be posting my progress throughout the course of my studies, and look forward to talking with all of you, and seeing some inspirational art from you guys!

Right now, I'm just practicing the gesture portion of the first course, so I'll post that once I finish some stuff. Of course, it'll be pretty bland compared to some of the absolutely incredible work you guys have posted for the later courses!

Anyways, hello everyone, and thank you in advance for your time and contributions to my art growth!

Also, realized it might help to show where I started. This is a piece I finished a couple days ago... I'm excited where this program will take me!

Welcome to Art School and good luck with your art journey

Giving some poses from imagination a try... and then tried some from reference. Definitely found it was a lot easier using the reference, since the spatial logic was already on the page.

I'd love some critiques on these!

Hi! So first off, I think your skeletons are looking good! You got the poses down for the most part :] I feel like the line of action for #4 is a little off though? Like, you drew his "spine"/LOA bending outwards (towards the viewer), though in the reference picture, he's more leaning away from the viewer (just a little slouched). So I'd just be a little more careful about stuff like that O: But again, I think you got the idea of the poses down, and that's what's important!

Also, if you want to practice stuff like basic shapes and lines more, I recommend looking through the first few lessons on DrawABox.com ! The artist there gives a lot of good instruction, and it's based on Peter Han's lessons on dynamic sketching (and it's all free haha) \o/

In any case, keep it up! Doin' great!

Thanks so much for the tips and critique! I absolutely agree with #4, the slouch messed with my mind, haha. DrawABox.com? I'll definitely have to give it a lookover!

I just transitioned from Procreate on an Ipad, to photoshop on a Huion 24 pro... so I'm definitely still getting used to the differences in how it handles, having to use key shortcuts instead of gestures, and the one that's really getting me; not being able to easily rotate the canvas. But... I think I'm starting to figure it out...

Some more practice with going over poses... and getting used to the new tablet...
And tried the male/female proportions!
