Hi lovely artists! I would like to share my projects and WIPs here with you from now on ^^

Yesterday I did a Saruman bust to practice ZBrush:

Hey! Awesome model of Saruman, keep up the good work! Might be nitpicky, but he seems to be squinting for no reason. Saw some pics of Saruman, and he doesn't squint. His eyes were fully opened to intimidate, exceptions were when he was making an expression, something that he isn't doing here! Anyway, great job again!

Hey Ena, welcome aboard. No critique for now, aside from passing by and welcoming you. Its a solid render for me, definitely defines that it's a human etc. so great job.

Thank you! That's no nitpicking, I really like that comment because I found you are right. I only found one pic of him squinting, but it's more usual for him to have wide open eyes, I see now. Sharp!

Hey Enalya,

Good stuff on Saruman! You can tell it is him regardless of the text.
There are some parts where I think you can improve on it by minimal effort.

1 - The shape of the nose feels a bit off. The tip seems to bend down while the ref I found looks to be more straight.

2 - The frown folds between the brows could be a bit more pronounced as shown in the same ref.

3 - His upper lip disappears behind the moustache and his lower lip seems to protrude a bit more.

4 - the shape of his forehead seems to round off a bit more at the top.

Wow, this is just amazing! Being a 2D artist, I almost never see 3D models! You can really tell it's Saruman. Quick question, though. How did you get into ZBrush and where did you learn? Great work, BTW. I will be checking out more of your work in the future.

I got into ZBrush by wanting to do character/creature 3D art most of all. I watched live streams where people work in ZBrush and asked questions. I bought books and did tutorials. It's very weird software to get into, but just keep practicing ^^

This model is lovely, was a bit startled though! Thought that I saw an Ngon and was instantly triggered, haha. By the way, are you self taught?

Thank you I started learning 3D low poly (game) art at Team Reptile (Lethal League), but everything after that (sculpting, topology, UVs, texturing, animating) I taught myself.

i think the design is cool and the topology seems well optimized the only crit i would give is that it needs just a bit of definition on the textures specially on the hair, separate some of the hair strands and make it very clear where are the lows mids and highlights maybe a gradient from the ground to top to define the point of interest, these are very subtle changes but can really improve your diffuse and really make your already cool character even better
