Hi guys.

I was wondering if any of you have been a part of a game development school. I'm looking into applying for a school myself and I'm confident that I'll have a good time there because of the school's philosophy of teaching content that is in line with what the gaming industry is looking for. I'm lucky that the school is in the same city where I live and that the school ranks among the best in the world in some of their creative departments (such as VFX and 3d animation). They put emphasis on getting game projects done and completed within set deadlines. The school's website is https://www.mediadesignschool.com

So have you guys been through a school that is similar to mine, and if so I'll like to hear of your experiences! Do you think it was worth it, or would you rather spend time developing the skills yourself? Being a multi-disciplinary person myself, I might go down the self-teaching route.

I would highly recommend that you attend an art school before attending a game-specific program. The skills that you learn in a traditional art school will pay back 10x once you start working in the game industry. At the end of the day, everything that you need to learn to work in games can be learned online - but the life drawing, painting, sculpting skills and experiences that you learn in a traditional program are invaluable. If you build a strong art foundation, you'll be laughing when you learn the 3D tools.
