Hello guys!

I am not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I feel like I kind of have been struggling with this for a while. So, recently I was talking to one of my friends that works in media, and he suggested to me that I wasn't doing enough to have more of a presence on the internet. He suggests that I need to have more social media sites, go to youtube, post more, and such.

But I feel as though that is what most artists do already. I have several different galleries and social media places, and I have my own website as well:

ArtStation
Behance
DeviantART
LinkedIn
FaceBook
Instagram
Tumblr
My Website: clarissaferguson.com

I try to be as active as I can on all my sites! lol And I try to network with other artists as well. But for a long time, I believed that if you were a really good artist and just simply posted as much as you are able to people will slowly flock to you or people that share your same interests will come to you. At first art to me was fun, but lately, it kind of felt like a competition or if you aren't popular enough then your work isn't good or people may not like your style etc.

I am not sure exactly what I could do better or what I am doing wrong. I'd think that I am trying to best to continually posts as much as I can and post to as many places as possible. (I am new to CubeBrush so I am not sure how to fully navigate this site yet.)

Do you guys think I am over thinking this? Or is there something I am missing? Any advice would be appreciated  I am not trying to be like a big-time celebrity or anything, and I am not sure if I will ever reach the status of people like Maciej Kuciara, Valentina Remenar, Artgrem, Anthony Jones, Sakimichan, Jake Parker, (phew, I could go on XDD.) But I don't want miss opportunities because I am hidden away.

Thanks, guys!

I would say, keep doing what your doing and be patient. Possible try to produce some more work this year(2018) as well. Nothing much else. From reading this, your doing all the right things.

Hi !
Honestly I feel your struggle, but for me I feel like it's just the quality of my work that isn't that great, your stuff look pretty cool though. The only thing that comes to my mind is giveaways and raffles and yeah keep being active but I feel like you should focus on less sites at 1st and slowly keep expanding. Artstation is great, DA i feel like is kinda dying but still works I guess, I recently saw a post about FB being unfriendly to artists it was on Paul Known's FB page (Zeronis) (posts not reaching followers and so on) and Instagram feels like the place to focus the most on.
These are just my thoughts I don't have a big following so I can't tell you for sure how it works, but I hope this helps you a little bit.

The key is knowing your audience and what art to produce at which time. I've seen extremely talented artists with beautiful work pushed to the sideline simply because the subject of their art doesnt interest the audience. So its a balance game between doing your own ideas, and doing other more relatable stuff - most obvious : fan art. So my advice would be that, keep doing your own stuff and building your portfolio for future careers opportunities but if you want to get noticed quickly , do lots of fan art , and upload them to sites and forums where the fan base gather ( put them on deviantart or artstation as your base of operations but start linking it to places like specific subreddits , twitter , tumblr -taking full advantage of the # of course. kind like building multiple doors to your house.) Even more, know your audience, say what is the majority of the fanbase and where do they come from, since that can affect the effectiveness of your posting if you post at a time when most of them are asleep. Another tip is , keep it at a constant pace , say weekly if possible - your fan arts doesnt need to be high quality all the time , have some pace like sketch sketch sketch painting sketch..... Keep this going and Im quite certain you'll gather an audience in sometime, especially if your skills shows through it . I basically got a job offer from a company for doing fanarts of their shows so hey , its good investment ! hope it helps

Yeah that is one of my goals for this year to try and create more art. I am kind of a slow artist (at least in my mind) so it takes a while for me to show a piece, a fully rendered/illustrated piece mainly. But I am going to continue to try!

EDIT: Thank you so much it did help! But wow this is a bit more complicated than I thought to be honest XD. Almost stressful, but I guess it is something that needs to be done. Thanks again!
