After a long hiatus, I've come back hopefully stronger than before. I've totally revamped the character so he will no longer be referred to as Draven. Details on his history will come out soon. In summary, though, He is one of the most notorious Techno Bounty Hunters in the Galaxy. His name is "Okubi Makina"

Below: Trying to figure out where my light is coming from in order to establish the planes of the suit. I still at this point had a very vague idea of what I was going for.. Oh and I switched to Paint Tool Sai so hopefully you can see the differnce in quality from Draven.

Below: As You can see, I've established a very Alienware type lighting under the armor plating which I found to actually be very technology oriented. This helped push the idea that the suit was far more advanced than it appears at first glance. In continuation of that idea, I decided to add a sort of gel-like substance that not only protected Okubi's face, but also enhanced his sight and data processing capabilities. The insignia on his chest was something I had in mind from the start.

Below: Further rendering is happening at this point as I'm in Limbo on what I should do next. Take note of the fact that I didn't have a very good story in place.

Below: Something not seen previously was the first drawing I did of the neon lights on the flat color we saw earlier. In this picture, I'm messing around with the opacity of the render layer in order to strike a nice balance between the new Neon lights and the ones I did on the flat colors.

Below: After I felt like I had a pretty good idea of where I was going with Okubi I decided to start doing functionality bits. This process was extremely enjoyable and added a whole new level of meaning to my piece.

Below: During this phase, I felt like my Okubi needed more capabilites and a greater sense of advancement. For this reason and the fact that his chest plate extension was feeling a bit empty, I added in the supercomputer. I think I'm going to change that to a quantum computer...

Below: May or may not have went crazy with the whole force field thing haha. I'll leave that up to you guys. In this phase it was just the continued process of enhancing the look of the figure to suit the tone I was going for. Again,... Okubi is a technologically superior being.

Below: Just now realizing that could've been a shadow haha. Well, anyways, this is only the character design and with that comes the importance of knowing what he/she/it looks like from the back. At first, I was very hesitant about messing up the focus but since this is only a guide, I relented.

Below: Here I focus on the structure of his back and how it should compliment his front. lol. If I were to do a turnaround of this character would either side be equally appealing and would each provide enough information about the character on it's own..

Below: While this is a pretty big jump, hopefully, you can notice some changes I made to the front side. Okubi's back maintains the idea of flowing energy and data which I wanted to convey. I'm saving the rendering for later on in a compositional piece.

I did this in the span of 10 hours today because of a change in the tools I used. There was greater efficiency in my work process than there would have been otherwise. Now that I have a thorough understanding of who my character is (focus wise) I'll begin the phase of reiteration and trying to see how I can do better . Maybe I'll post some weapon designs as well. until then, see you guys later...

Below: These are the guns designs I've created that sort of fit the character. I really wanted to enhance the traits so I went for a more technology-driven design. Since this is my first, well second time drawing guns, I didn't have a lot of mental references. As a result, I had to eat sleep and drink weapons in order to understand the components. Hopefully, the first rendered design fits the character.

In my next rendition, I took the same concept of technology but I wanted to move it into something more executable. I had a hard time coming up with concept scenes for the original character design but this one may show some promise.

Here is the presentation design. Having a back and front view sketch that used simply colors and line made it easier to understand what was going on with the suit and how it functioned with the body.

Now I really need to speed things up. Here are some notes I left on the mechanics of the design to add more believability. I want to be invested in the end result of my drawing and knowing how my design functions is a great step in the right direction.

Here I'm trying to get a feel for the character in motion. This was probably the most difficult phase outside of general composition. I'll be choosing 3-4 of these to flesh out a bit more.

I've laid out some simple scenes with the poses I chose in the earlier stage and will see what I can do with these. At this point, I feel like the poses need to be more in your face and the environments need to be less of a focus.

Okay, Now I've really really really got to speed up haha. here are the color comps. I've not got enough time to meticulously go over which one I'm using so I'll pick the one I feel conveys the most dominating feeling.
