Hey there, welcome aboard

Good luck

Alrighty, so I did technically start back in october, but it got very spaced and inconsistent due to me being out of commission for two weeks. Suffered an eye injury ontop of being pretty sick. I tend to overdo things so I tried toeing into this as light as possible. Trying to do the daily practice and one exercise per day, or at the very least achieve one or the other. That was really dependent on my work schedule plus whatever happened to pop up throughout the day.

10/25 - Daily Prac

10/26 - Daily Prac + Exercise 4

10/27 - Pen Con + Exercise 5

10/28 - Pen Con + Daily Prac (partial)

11/9 - Exercise 6 - Yeah this was a mess. Idk what even though I know what not to do, something about being timed just makes my brain panic. Definitely need to spend some good time on gesture drawing lol

11/10 - Pen Con + Exercise 7

These are looking very good so far! The figure from reference is pretty much spot on. I like the way you added the facial features as well, I really don't know much about how to go about them and just wing it for now :stuck_out_tongue: I also really like how you very subtly apply different line weight at the legs to emphasize the closer one, and that minimal slanted line for the tibia that just vanishes downward implying the rest is really nice. Maybe the figure's right forearm is slightly laterally deflected, might be because the highlight tricked your eye or you could draw a slight line of emphasize subtly the brachioradialis (I know anatomy but not much about drawing yet so take anything I say with a grain of noob-salt)

Keep it up!

cheers

Thanks! Gonna be honest the line weight for the legs was not intentional, but it's interesting to notice after being pointed out lol. Admittedly been a little bit of a lurker when it comes to interacting on other's posts, but I've seen the work you've been putting in and it looks nice! Actually need to catch up, pretty sure I'm about 10-40 posts behind on most people's updates  Looking forward to seeing what you've tackled the past 2 weeks!

Yeah honestly this is the third figure I've practiced for measuring, and getting that constraint box is still a bit tricky. Though I'm using not so conventional means for getting those measurements, so I think all in all it's good for what it ends up being :joy:
Think the hips/waist area tends the be the most consistent thing accuracy-wise since it's marked with that first solid reference point. Though limbs are kinda hit or miss since I just have trouble getting a good idea how to measure then place the joints accurately. I will say at least for the right elbow joint [Left from our angle] I intentionally misplaced it since for some reason that gave me a better visual reference for the left side box constraint. Though that's probably something I should steer away from doing in the future lol

Thanks for the kind remarks
Gotcha about the figure, it's also good that you're aware of weak spots and things you need to improve. I think it's also equally important to receive positive reinforcement on things we do well, as I feel it's quite typical for one to be very self critical in art

cheers and keep it up!
