Okay so today I attempted Architecture Sketch. This time I messed around with a watercolor type of style sketch. The purpose of the sketch is to help me simplify Architecture and let some colors handle the details. I always struggle with the level of details - I tend to tunnel vision when doing architecture so this helps me break away from my style of thinking when it comes to architecture and treat it more like a painting instead of a floor plan or elevation.

Edit: this also helps me with composition because I can grab a street picture and set up a composition to focus on a specific area, which in turns helps me with the level of detail.

Thanks, I always struggle with the proportions so my female figures always look a bit too masculine at first so I have to spend time adjusting them, I was supposed to do more but I skewed of towards rendering skin.

The point of those was too figure out what worked best for rendering skin, I tried a hard brush, round brush and mixer brush, I think I like the mixer brush for blending colors but I really need to work showing muscle and bones properly through the skin when rendering.

So I started working on this yesterday, spent the whole day trying different poses. none of them stuck but I liked this one so i developed it a bit more, want to incorporate a more complex background than just a shadow and color BG.

thanks , I still have to get better at implementing the same aesthetic to the backgrounds, that's why I set up the scene this way.

Okay so I've been busy, spent a few days working on the landscape for this piece - taking time to think through what I wanted as a BG because that usually gives me the most trouble. In the end I think I went to overboard and create a landscape that didn't match the perspective, however I didn't want it to go to waste so I decided to continue, below is the result as well as the progress pictures I had originally planned to upload to give you a better of idea of what I was thinking.

this is where i realized that the scale was off, but I didn't want the BG to go to waste so i proceeded from there.

This is where I was on Friday, The biggest reason i wanted to continue is because i thought of it as good practice for a more conceptual style that i want to learn to use.

This is the final piece, I could spend more time on this piece but I want to get back to the original piece I had planned to work on. Anyways let me know what you think.

True true the scale might be a little off, but it is still a great piece on its own!👍👍
I agree with you that using this landscape as a separate piece and redoing the BG for your other piece😁👍

Nice! There's so much storytelling in this and I really like the strong contrast in values. It kind of feels like we're hiding with the character now.
edit: What made you add the the porch, rope, etc?

I looked at way to many reference pictures of western buildings and saw that they made the most of the space they had - they would have fur and pots on posts and ropes hanging about. Also I figured it might help break up the upper area of the drawing with a bit of depth as well.

So over the weekend, while sitting down to watch E3 I wanted to start something new (still working on the other piece but I'm taking my time with it) I drew I-NO from guilty gear. Nothing crazy just something easy and relaxing to finish off the week.
