Hey guys and girls, my names Taylor and this is my first post on this site and i just wanna say that i hope you enjoy this first peace i surely enjoyed painting it this morning. I was going for a thick oil paint look well trying to work on lighting i wasn't really worried about anatomy, manly because i was using it as an exaggeration in this piece. feel free to critique.

Hey man welcome to cubebrush.

Now for this piece here, I recommend using reference when trying the light and shade the face.
Another thing I notice is that there isn't really any defined forms. Drawing the face then painting it will help with this.
You have good colors here but the problem lies in understanding of the forms and the form of the human face.. Take it slow an start simple. A line art then colors. Do more studies to get a better understanding of the value shifts and form of things.
Keep up the good work man and remember the have fun.

Are you using artrage or painter or something? I think it looks very traditional feeling like you said. The anatomy if your not worried about it that's fine it makes interesting careers for people. With lighting your values are okay, your edges of form could use with some softening on the rounder forms or some more mixing like some of the strokes on the neck. It will add some variation and interest. I'd like to see more like this. Its nice to not see line art and concept art all the time.

Thanks and all take that into consideration, im working with corel painter and yeah i try to also study artist that use thick paint strokes and the reason I wasnt to worried about the anatomy is i was kinda looking for that dishonored look. But thank you for the advices.
