Hello!
I'm Hikari.

I used to be an aspiring manga artist. I'm going into character design at the moment.
I've been doing art for as long as I've been able to hold a pencil but I only started practicing more seriously around 5 months ago: 08.08.2021. I've been self-taught so far and am missing a lot of the fundamentals, perspective being the most challenging for me.

I started to stress a lot around a month ago and needed a more structured art practice which is why I decided to enroll in Art School. I'm going to document the entire journey, including notes, assignments etc.
I'm hoping to improve a lot along with the artists here! Journey started: 17.12.2021. :seedling:

Welcome Hikari! I'm looking forward to see your progress!

12 days later

oooo nice! I should be taking notes too, but I have just been watching instead xP.

I've joined recently as well. Can't wait to see your progress and how we will grow as artists together!

Doing good! For the 4th assignment I'm guessing you're using some sort of a tablet with pressure sensitivity.

To link the brush size with the pen pressure on CSP:

  • Select the sub tool you're going to be doing the assignment with.
  • Go the the tool properties window and you'll see a little wrench icon on the bottom right. Click that and it'll show you more options.
  • Select [Brush Size] and next to Brush Size there will be a small button like this.
  • Go there and you should be able to check on [Pen pressure] which will allow you to change the brush size depending on how light and how hard you press.
  • Same method applies to changing the opacity pen pressure settings.

Hope this helps!

for the first line assignment connecting the dots try getting used to doing fast and accurate strokes, some of your lines thinned out halfway which makes me think you went slow when drawing them or you did it in increments and for the Mei color adjustment assignment that one is hard but it is only meant to get you acquitted with the color adjustment tools in whatever software you use, so don't get too hung up on it.

Hey welcome here! The thing I noticed with your image adjustment assignments is that you get the colors/hues very well but you struggle a bit with the values. I think your 2nd and 4th assigments need only a bit of finetuning the shadows/lights - maybe just try to add a bit more contrast! Keep up the good work! :sparkles:
