Yo good work man. I love anatomy so this part of the term was a lot of fun for me.

For me it has been the most challenging part of everything, I'm fighting for my life here lol

These are looking good! just be careful not to make the muscle bellies of the rectus abdomini bulge too much (unless going for the freak body builders who use growth hormone and end up with a huge gut from intestinal overgrowth - unfortunately not sci fi XD)

Late november stuff. Felt like I wasted that whole month. Anyways...here's more muscle studies. I definitely can understand more now than a few months ago When I felt overwhelmed every time I tried to do anything muscle related.

I do know I made some mistakes here and there. but feel free to point them out if you can, I case I missed something. I mostly struggling with drawing the back side on a different pose.

I also have been doing clothe studies and all of that, but not much. I actually gonna do that right now.

I noticed that one of the things I improved a lot in this year was heads and portraits, even tho it wasn't my goal this year lol. although to be fair, anatomy is way harder for me than heads. I'm happy with the progress tho.

Nice work all around man! The potrait looks great! I also still struggle to get ears to be the right size.

Muscle anatomy studies also look good, though something I noticed in those last 2 anatomy exercices was that the crotch seems to be a bit higher than it should. Makes the torso overall feel smaller.

Also "fuckface" was not an anatomy term I was familiar with xD

Everything looks pretty good to my eyes!
Man one thing that i just can't figure out on anatomy is the trapezius, can't see to figure out how low it attaches on the spine, in some models it ends right on the bottom line of the rotators, but in others looks like it goes all the way to the tip of the rib cage. Just expressing my confusion lol

Yeah it's weird. I made a few mistakes because of that too. according to my research it usually goes like this..

It usually ends before the lats, never longer than that. the tendon that has less mass it goes a bit further which gives it that extra lenght, some artist draw that, other artists dont and I think that's were the confusion is born. you so have to be careful with the references..although I don't think it affects THAT much if you draw it longer than usual

another thing I noticed is that in most references and 3d Models, it ends right at the same lenght of the 10th rib, which is kinda where the square of the torso ends.

Maybe Marc mentionted this and I didn't even paid attention lol.

So far I struggle a lot with understanding and identifying the folds in real life clothes. I tend to draw random lines without thinking and I often draw more stiff lines too, which ends up making a stiff pose. in that second drawing, the sketch (right one) had a lot more gesture. I think if I use a brush with less hardness and start using hatching to end the lines, it could look better.

I also need to remember to use less lines, and simplify what I'm seeing.

the reason why I'm doing this and not how mark does it in the video (going straight to painting) is because I feel like I'm not really learning with that method, It just makes me good at copying and not understanding, and I really want to make my own OC before the year ends, and I don't feel "ready" for it...

I can see that you did more than just copy. Your own interpretation of the folds went in the right direction.

Some enviroment paintings did for fun. Not my best work of course, they look very amateur but at least with works as a "Starting point" to compare to later. Pixel art landscapes are much easier.

I know exactly what you mean. Learning information like this can be so slow it feel like its not even happening. Its not like math where you can learn something new, do a few problems, and pretty much have it learned by the end of the day. Progress can DRAG.
I think once you start drawing clothes on the naked figures you'll see some things that you have absorbed and feel more confident. That happened to me this morning and it was a nice affirmation.
