Not done too much more this week. Taking a few days to relax instead of draw every second. But moved along a little more with picking this characters design, tried to make it interesting but not too complex though may add a few patterns and details to it once i continue.

Early wip process of my characters i'd been working on for a while. I'm shading this by doing black and white and having the colour layer separate as it's easier when im not so confident with shading. will be spending a few weeks on this piece as i want to try hard to improve my rendering and adding textures

Creating characters with unrealistic body proportions is super hard. Really just continuing this to practice rendering or else I'd stop here.

Will be attending 2 art events in April to get art critique, kinda nervous as I know how hard I work yet there will be people who's level I'm so far from ..it's disheartening at times.

These designs are interesting. I don’t know much about design land shape language or anything like that to be able to give anything constructive here. I do think the values need something to make them pop more, maybe a couple of directional lights as overlays

I am still not finished with this piece but it is some added things still so much more to change and add like facial expression etcs.. but i am just realising how incredibly unhappy i am with my skills, it genuinely makes me sad and want to give up on this art journey. I want to give up so bad because every single piece i post i hate it i feel so ashamed of everything i create. i will take a break from art for a while, i am just so incredibly unhappy.

Dang, I think you are being way too harsh on yourself, you’re doing some great work!

I personally hate like 90% of my work, especially the second time I see it, but I try not to let it get to me - I just try harder on the next piece or assignment

Ofcourse, frustration can definitely happen and taking a break can be a healthy remedy but please, don’t give up!

I find your work truly inspiring!

I think your art looks gerat! i like the way you color and shade as well.

I think you have a lot of the core concepts down as well. tbh i see no issues with ur anatomy/proportions. it looks professional (imo.)

what i do when i don't like my art is think "what would make it so that i like it more" - for me, my main audience is me. if i dont like what i draw then even if other ppl like it i still wont be happy but if i like it and other ppl dont i'll still be happy.

for example i hated drawing backgrounds, i'd feel lazy when i had to work on a background but the more i think about the process and break it down, and take my time with it, the more confidence i had in my bg.

I think its nice to take a break every once in a while but don't ditch the whole journey all together.. Good luck!

@snakker that's a possibility i think it's due to the fact i'll be surrounded by artists that are all more skilled than me soon and it does get overwhelming and shameful when I open my portfolio. Thank you for your advice, I do try to work harder on the next projects I do, but when it becomes difficult and you realise how many things you need to improve on it's tough to find the strength to go on. Hopefully I will feel better after a break.

@mitsuki-youko Thank you for this. I do often try to improve with each piece i create and to simplify processes. I hope that when I am back I can approach my art in a different way.

Just received my Art School certificate from Marc & I'm quite happy with the feedback a little less hopeless with my art skills. Hitting milestones is really important as sometimes it's really hard to see progression and makes me feel like completely giving up.

I remember in 2021 creating my OC Rikah i was so happy with my skills then by going to events my skills were really weak and now in February 2023 I began drawing my OC Aiko ( Rikah's brother) I am slightly less ashamed to show my work to professionals. However I received more art critique today from a very honest art director and it's so helpful as I know what to sort of stick to and how to improve my work moving forward at this point I feel like I'm on autopilot with this art journey I know i should enjoy the journey but a part of me just wants to hurry up and get to a point where I can make money off my skills and work in a game studio.
