I've been away for the holidays, and will be back soon on Jan 1st! I'll be posting my weekly updates here every Sunday for 2023, and am making major changes to my workflow and study methods which I'll go over in my first post for the new year. I'll see you then

There are 3 major things I'll be focusing on in 2023: Fundamentals, Anatomy, and Art Studies.

- Fundamentals include perspective, gesture drawings, and color theory ( one will be the main focus for that week ), posted on Saturdays

- Anatomy includes the head, chest / back, arms / hands, and legs / feet ( I will focus entirely on one area for each quarter ), posted on Sundays.
- The head will be the first for Anatomy this year.

- Art Studies include studies of photographs of the natural world ( like mountains, forests, animals, etc. ), posted on Fridays

Those head studies are too good for a mere 1-3 minutes!, Amazing work on those gestures too, Can't wait to see how you progress throughout the year!.

Like @CYP2C19 said, those head studies are way too good for only 1-3 minute. by the time it's gone, I may have only done the basic head construction LMAO.

Looking at your gesture now and few past one, I do suggest to try to draw one long line rather than multiple short lines representing together a bigger line. And also, try to push the model main intent further as a challenge (e.g. if the model push her torso, try to push it more!)

But damn, your chest drawing in some gesture looks pretty impressive! Hope that helps!

i really like your plan, most people just say they will draw more but have not steps or direction toward it. I believe that you can do it, so keep up the good work

Thank you for your kind words, thoughts, and feedback! I did have a good time for the Holidays. I will extend my time for my head studies, because I want to focus on fundamental understanding of the structure and form of the head with other forms of study, not just simply quickly sketching it. Though, I can iterate on that for my anatomy post this week.

My line quality is something I'll be working on throughout the year, since it seems to be more of a longer-term skill. It is better to have one crisp line over several loose ones.

Here are my Art Studies for this week. My Initial theme for these are Winter Landscapes / Animals for the month of January. Afterwards for each consecutive month, there'll be a new theme. I took around 15 Min. - 30 Min. on each of these ( I might take more time right now since these are still new, and I want to focus more on quality work and good observation ). One big struggle for me is being able to use the smudge tool for effective blending, and that's something I'll focus on more.

Thank you for your feedback! Perspective was my main focus for the Fundamentals this week. I drew cubes in 3P, 2P, and 1P perspective. In the future, I will draw more complex shapes or angles as my understanding of perspective increases.

Beautiful studies, perspective looks accurate but a tad distorted maybe the VPs are too close? Unless you were going for that look
And the character design for the palette study is really cool

Thank you for the feedback! Water is a big struggle for me with the Art Studies. Yes, I included my VPs within the canvas itself, so that is why the perspective looks a bit distorted for 2P and 3P. Looking at it now it's not particularly something I'll be doing unintentionally, since it's not grounded.

Here are my studies of the Head for this week's Anatomy post. I will extend time with more refined studies down the line. I want to get to a point where I can visualize the human head at multiple angles, and can draw it without much use of reference. And that is a long ways away, so I'll simply focus on the journey.
