I'm back! I had a great time at my family reunion and came out with a clear head and priorities after having a whole week to just relax. I have a bunch of ideas and new things I want to try, so with that said lets get this show on the road.

First thing, snowy environment. I want to take what I know now about maya and apply it, so I've begun doing some color roughs.

For my next illustration, I wanted to do a champion in a contemporary setting, so modern clothing materials in a city setting with that final fantasy huge weapon thang going on.

One of my next projects is to make a maya scene, keeping with the snow theme I started thumbnailing a scene out. The idea is that the player is discovering a long abandoned prototype mech.

I started with an enclosed space, but realized if I cracked a whole in the ceiling I could introduce weathering and snow to increase that 'abandoned' feel. I'm pretty happy with 4, but please share any feedback you might have.

It looks really nice. I definitely feel that number four is the strongest, at least for me. Personnally, I'd probably darken some areas on the robot where the light doesn't hit just to make it more dramatic, but that's up to you. I did a quick example of what I mean.

Thanks cedricgo! I agree the added darkness enhances the drama a lot more, I'll make sure to add it in!

Been a few days here are some updates

Basic Maya render to test proportions, going to texture and light tomorrow...

Added the mech, people and computer station, my roommate gave me some advice to add an area light as well

Feel happy with how easy it was to realize my thumbnail in a maya, going to continue with my tutorial before I call the render finished and move back into Photoshop for paint over.

Sorry I have been MIA, I wanted to hold off to make a more substantial post, but I was recently told I will need to find a new living situation...

...in two weeks.

I had planned to ramp up my posting, but it looks like apartment hunting will be my new hobby. If any of you know of an open spot in the Bay Area I'd be interested

For now, here's a small update on the anime girl. I just figured out how to get the render passes for the mech so I will be pushing that to photoshop/final as well. How much time I get to art, depends on how things shakeup as I currently don't have much work as well.

Thanks for all your support guys, I hope to be back to posting sooner rather than later. Sometimes it feels like things are crashing down, but I'm looking at it as a new opportunity to live somewhere else and try new things.

Been bit busy past few days with looking for new apt and other craziness. I got a big update though. Anime girl is now Lady Shadow!

There are some more refinements to be had, but i will be calling it good on the render soon.

After that the next step will be to provide the sword with an accurate line drawing so it's easy to read/model. Once that's done I'm moving on to making the illustration. Going to shift back over to the mech project now and pickup where I left off and probably try to think up some concepts to speed paint.

New character silho's, calling the mob Blight Bringer for now. My basic think was that it was a humanoid monster that casts debuff spells like confusion, darkness, zombie etc. If you guys are leaning towards one or the other let me know.

Here is an update on the Warrior, I have yet to begin on the #7 silhouette. Sorry for the lack of updates, just being pulled in a lot of directions with family, pulling together graphic design work, doing studies that are not really worth posting etc.
