I've shied away from pair and group drawings for as long as I can remember. NO MORE!
It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be, but I decided to not use the box since I can't really rely on it when making up my own poses. I missed it, but it's for the best. I might bring it back, but I'll be doing my own poses next week so I wanted to try without it.

I also want to share my recent assignment for CGMA. The material studies I did earlier really came in handy.

From now on I'll be starting my personal project/portfolio so I'll be sharing the process for that. Really can't wait to show my ideas.

My last pair figure study. I like the way this one came out. I'm not sure about that bottom arm the second figure is resting on though...

From now I'll be working on my own poses while loosely referencing poses. Wish me luck!

Here's a formal intro to my personal project!

In 19th century France, a small circus troupe run by a young bootstrap-pulling ringmaster is suddenly launched into fame through a lucrative contract, but it comes at a cost.

I want to be an illustrator and character/costume designer, so I'll be doing a majority of character sheets and illustrations.
Here's the main style guide I'll be aiming for:

I'll be exploring ideas and uploading thumbs/concept art here, so you're welcome to provide any feedback if you want! My aim this week is to finish the silhouettes for the main characters and finish the "home base" for the story.

With that said, I've narrowed down my silhouettes for my clown trio. Which concepts and/or elements look interesting?

This is my first constructed pose for the week! Let my know if anything sticks out with the anatomy for the body. I didn't put much effort into the face, but if the head looks to big or small that would be great to know.

The concept sounds very interesting and I am excited to see what comes out of it. For the clown concepts, the one that sticks out to me is C2, and I think that's because I like the look of the outfit especially the sleeves. I also don't know much about anatomy but the head looks fine to me.

The only thing that you might want to change is that in your last pose it seems as if the figure kneels on a tilted plane, because the left leg is higher than the right leg. You did it right with all the figures before, just the last one is a little off (especially if you compare it to the plane the candle rests on). Apart from that I think you did very well on that figure, I especially like the transition from rib cage to pelvis on her right side. It looks so natural

I got the silhouettes done for my magician! This was difficult because I naturally leaned towards a more steampunk style at first, but I had to catch myself because I want a more classic look I don't know why but these are exhausting to do. Hopefully it will get easier the more I do them.

Which is your favorite?

my favourites out of the lot would probably be A & D. All of them turned out really nice, i just really like the longer cloak covering both.

For me A would be number 1 closely followed by D. The pose on A and C is really intriguing

Trust me, designs are always exhausting, no matter how much you do them
I like A and E. I feel like capes don't do justice to character silhouettes unless you make them very tame or compensate with unique headpiece.

I like A the best but D is a close second I like the flare dwhite sleeves of A the most when I look at all of them.

Thanks for all your replies everyone! I can't wait to flesh out these ideas.

I managed to do more original poses. It's starting to get easier and I have a better understanding of the proportions.

I also finished the silhouettes for my strongwoman. I think I'm going with 4.

This time I did silhouette explorations for the "home base" of my story/project, the circus tent. I went more on the design side than the functional/accurate side but that's the fun of making my own story Still not sure which one I'll go with but I'm leaning towards the one on the right.

I also went back to my Sailor Moon piece a tried to darken the shadows and define the features more. I think I'm going to leave it here and revisit it in a couple of years.

Those silhouettes look really cool. For your specific prompt I think the first and second of the second row fit the description best. You did great by going for an assymetrical design and I am not sure if thats intentional but the shapes look like the tent itself would be able to move by its own will, which I think would be a very fitting idea!

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you see so much life in the concept There's going to be some magic in the world so I'll have to keep that in mind.
